Aug - I switch between both depending on who I’m playing with or what content I’m doing.

I like scale commander more solo, but I feel chrono is stronger for the group

scalecommander has way too many quality of life\mobility on it compared to the other one

Preservation chronowarden is rather strong in open world. Just living flame spam the things to death.

I’ve recently been experimenting with flameshaper and I’ve been really enjoying it on dev. I think it would’ve been better received if the new visuals were more than just the occasional puff of fire on the target. I would’ve loved to see disintegrate imbued with some red dragon fire, pyre to look like a giant blob of napalm, fire breath to leave scorch marks and have a bit more oomph to it, and the engulf animation to be a bit more flashy to make it more satisfying to hit, maybe make the animation scale with the amount of dots on the target.

Chrono for pres and aug by a mile.

Flameshaper for Dev. Feels very natural in ST, and only a little weird in AoE. Visuals need love. Pretty sure Engulf is just the Pyre VFX but without the ball of fire, which is funny because the early beta animation for it used to just be a ball of fire with no AoE indicator.

I do not care for incorporating deep breath into my regular rotation, and for all the QoL it adds, Maneuverability feels more clunky than just normal deep breath to me. Imo Flameshaper gets a talent that just makes deep breath faster which is much better feeling to me.

the Flameshaper tree is extremely boring. Scalecommander flows very well with devastation.

flameshaper desperately need a buff to make it worth, atm it’s suck really hard there no point in taking it unless in arena you play with a frost dk

Pretty sure scale commander is better still. Fast deep breaths set up a lot better. And the whole point of draco cleave is that mass burst on all targets which mass disintegrate does better imo.

I adore Scalecommander on my Devastation. The second I saw that tree, I went, “Oh, I am going to play that.” This got solidified even more when I saw the animation and sound effect for bombardments. Even if Flameshaper simmed better, I would’ve still stubbornly played Scalecommander until I got bullied out of it or whatever. I just love the thematics and visuals so so much.

With Aug and Preservation, I like Chronowarden on both of those. I know I said I adore Scalecommander just before, but for Augmentation, for me, thematically I just liked the vibes of Chronowarden more when it came to Augmentation specifically since they are so Bronze-flight heavy. Hover becoming a teleport is really cool. Flameshaper just isn’t that exciting to me and I wasn’t keen on the idea of the gameplay.

they need to make something that have more synergie with flamebreath because in a PvP guy point of view if a ennemy player dispell your flamebreath, your DPS will eat a huge blow because of flamebreath is you third most powerful cast after disente and Eternity Surge.

if they make in future that now in flameshaper that flamebreath is now undispellable and the CD from flame breath is now 15 seconds instead of 30 sec now the hero talents will be worth picking in PVE and PvP

Yeah, considering how much Flamebreath/Dreambreath is central to Flameshaper, it’s kind of shocking that there isn’t any talents to make it easier to cast. Chronowarden for example has Afterimage which works off of empower spells, and the tree also has an incredible buff to Tip The Scales. Flamebreath really should as well. Also Augmentation has so many talents that latently decrease cooldowns, which only makes Tip the Scales better.

I’ve been playing Scalecommander as Dev since the start - but i just absolutely destroyed by a flameshaper in my LFR - same ilvl. Im not a terrible player by any means, and while there’s likely a skill issue involved somewhere, the difference was quite massive and im so very confused. Everything i’ve read says SC is stronger, but my Bombardments ended up only being 1.4% of my overall dmg - with details saying it would hit routinely for 48k damage. What is happening there?

Likely several things:

  1. Your bombardments triggered by others don’t show up on details, they go to the player that activated them. This is VERY substantial–i went dev on our silken court flight last night and it was about 150k DPS missing from details that was present in our logs.

  2. We’re in the early stages of gearing. Everything is super volatile until tier sets and stats get where they need to be.
