Which healer should i roll?

Faction - Horde
Purpose - PvP and PvE ( everything related including duels/wpvp )
Roll - Healer primarily with dps as OS
Class fantasy - i like shaman and druid class fantasy the best over a priest
Looks - i’d be min maxing for pvp purposes so i’d much prefer shaman/druid over a priest as i dislike UD and im sick of looking at trolls ( majority of my characters in retail i swapped to trolls )

Cons - due to time zone issues and work schedule i am forced to pug content or at least im expecting to have to pug. so this must be a class that i can see myself enjoying/looking at but at the same time i dont want to be wasting my entire day off trying to find a raid group that wont take me because i play X class.

i try not to pug but like i said i can’t progress sometimes without having to pug due to time zone/work schedule issues. idk how it goes in classic though i have no experience with raiding in vanilla-wotlk.

any help?

Im not expecting a raid spot be open for me 24/7 what im trying to say is i dont want to be benched and unable to do any sort of content. i dont plan to play classic hardcore i just plan to experience it over the phases doing raids, and bg’s ( NOT climbing ranks just more of a fun aspect ) i suck in pvp so i just want to learn

The answer, when asking for a Horde toon, will always be Shaman.

If you want a versatile character with a range of playstyles, it doesn’t get any better IMO. You can even TANK if you know what you’re doing and find a chill crowd as you level but DPS and Healing + general support is always in demand, and fun to boot.

They’re all fine. Pick which one interests you the most. You can pug and heal anything with a druid, shaman, or priest through lvl 40 ish with any spec. Just gotta know how to control mana and downrank your spells properly and grab int gear as well as you go.

Druid. You can do it all, and if you spec feral you can tank any dungeon and charge fat Gold for it.

Shaman. Strong heals, Reincarnation, Orcs are great for PVP, and those sweet totems.

Is that 14 your main? You seem very concerned about end game raid content more than anything but you’re putting your cart before the horse a bit since it sounds like you’re pretty casual and will probably take at least a couple months to level.

Resto shamans are my personal favorite healer. And I am leveling one as full resto, and I freaking love it. But it is a little bit difficult to do unless you predominately run dungeons. Enhance then is the go to leveling spec for Shamans, but they will not be fantastic off spec healers. But at least they have a res, unlike Druids. Also totems are freaking sweet.

Leveling as a resto Druid is even harder than leveling as a resto Shaman. So you pretty much HAVE to be a feral off spec healer unless you choose to level through dungeons. You also then have to have two full gear sets, since balance dps is pretty bad while leveling whereas with Shamans you can sort of manage to get through quests with most of a single gear set (albeit slowly).

Since you mention pvp a bit, priests are obviously the best for that. But it kind of sounds like you’re more trying to choose between Shamans and Druids than anything else. As far as pvp goes between a Shaman or a Druid? I don’t really know which would be better. They both have strengths and weaknesses.

Ehhh. I am finding no res to be a real pain on alliance. Lots of cleave happy dps get 1-2shot left right and centre then sit there waiting for a res - starting to get old really quickly… :frowning: Keep that in mind, other than that druid is lots of fun.

paladin obvioulsy

paladin…

so as a paladin
i find healing terrible

  1. no hots
  2. no goup heals
  3. fast heals? really. 1.5 to 2.5 sec, and if you choose you holy line, that line is too mana intensive.

im ok when try to keep 1 to 2 people up, but after that the heal kit for paladins isnt conducive to keeping groups of people safe like other healers.
bear in mind that im also at +440 heal power as well (though im not sure how it scales with heals)

imo
druid is top tier healer for alliance followed very closely by priest.

paladin is a very distant 3rd.

I second this.

Elemental / resto build is the most dynamic spec in the game by MILES.

You can potentially tank/offtank in dungeon with full mail / shield.

You can easily DPS and be top dps with your cleaving / aoe spells (Chain lighting + nova totems) inside dungeons. I don’t focus personally on dps’ing raids.

You are always sought after by warriors and rogues with your WF totems alone.

Healing is fun with rank 1 spamming chain heal on raids. Very fun and honestly pretty low effort once you get some good healing with 300-400+ healing.

You can be an absolute glass cannon in world people and outright delete people even harder than PoM mages can with how EleM works currently.

And most importantly, if PvP is a factor to consider, you are a huge force multiplier for horde. Being able to purge blessings of protections, caster shields and blessing of protection off alliance along with being able to throw heals and chain lightnings into crowds, even tossing displaced aoe snares is just for helping control a large battle.

If you’re going to play Horde, the only correct answer is resto shammy.

If you roll a priest Horde side and you’re not an Undead shadow priest spreading terror and vengeance throughout the land…you’re just wrong.

Shammy. /wink

In all seriousness, though, shaman are amazing healers and have so many options that other healers don’t have.

Stop telling shamans they can tank, they cant.

Anyone can “tank” sub lvl 40, after that…just…stop…

Stop pretending that Classic is so hard you need a Prot warrior or Feral to Tank.

Go pick up some gear and try it yourself, it’s really not hard.

Get to lvl 60 and tell me how “tanking” as a shaman works for you

Hint: it doesn’t

Shamans are the best hybrids in classic, hands down, and they make very strong healers. I’d suggest herbalism for manapots, just in case, but you shouldn’t have mana issues if you downrank for most things.

Git Gud?

This coming from a lvl 46 nearly 3 months into classic

So you’re saying you have more /played than I do and you still cant figure out how simple it really is? Neat.

If you can tank DM as a Warrior with a 2h in DPS Leather (and you can, because I have healed through it) then yes, a Shaman in full Mail with a Shield could tank as well.

Because im actually doing endgame and know a lot about shaman and know that “tanking” as a shaman doesn’t work past lvl 40
