Which expansion do you level in?

So when you level an alt, what is your preferred expansion? What do you think is the most popular expansion? Which is the fastest to level in for dungeon leveling? Which has the most efficient quest line up?

Draenor is my fave

MoP… with one caveat: at 86 I get out of Jade forest, that way I can always go back and look at the pretty statue.

Burning Crusade. Go to Netherstorm as soon as I can and quest between queues.

Legion is my fav, but im in WoD and MoP atm with a couple alts slowly going thru the storyline on the horde side since i never did it in those xpacs. Its all pretty good questing.

Vanilla/Cata zones, MoP and Legion are my favorites to go for. Sometimes BfA too.

They feel nice to quest in to me. Nothing terribly grindy, quests flow well, fun atmosphere.

By myself: wod. Modern enough that quests don’t suck. Old enough that it doesn’t have a gimmick item

With mrs: mop. Still modern enough that quests aren’t all bear posterior poaching and the zones and aesthetics are amazing.

Legion and bfa are a little too recent to want to redo and tbc/wotlk are too old.

Maybe I should give cataclysm/legion another try soon.

Cata. I just snore myself through the old dungeons until I hit 50 and go ToF.

Granted, I haven’t leveled an alt in quite some time.

If I may make a suggestion. If you do Cata, give Vash Jir a try. The mechanics of a 3d zone with the swimming really turned people off, but if you get used to it, there’s some amazing stuff. The Naga ruins will leave you wondering how Nazjatar could possibly be the grandest city back then.

Vashjir was actually my favourite zone. Hyjal was pretty boring to me.

WoD because it’s the expansion that makes this game’s godforsakingly bad leveling go by the fastest.

Legion and Wrath. Northrend has a great atmosphere to it, especially Grizzly Hills (original, sue me) and Howling Fjords. And honestly, even though the Borean Tundra gets some clowning on, I kinda like it. It’s got kind of a nice look to it, feels cold but still somewhat alive, as opposed to someplace like Icecrown.

Legion just had a very enjoyable story and some fantastic moments. Stormheimd and Highmountain are gorgeous and Aszuna is also great. And obviously, Suramar. Val’Sharah is nice, too, but it doesn’t vibe with me quite the same. Also the Class Order Hall stories. I never did all of them at launch, only the Warrior, DK, and Paladin. So I do wanna see the rest of them.

wotlk or mop, though I don’t really level up alts anymore. I do so because I enjoyed them the most, no other reason or secret leveling stragidy

Legion!!! It’s my favorite expansion to level in but I think I might go cata next time just to get a break from it. Honestly none of them are bad to level in for me except maybe TBC (It just doesn’t grab me.) Leveling content is usually Blizzard’s strong suit.

Legion questing, but i go back to chromie for cata (classic) dungeons. Queue is decent. 10min max as dps.

I still love vash’jir.

There’s only a couple quests in the zone I don’t enjoy…but when I get the seahorse I’m always like “wheeeeeeeee” and just look at everything.

WoD leveling is great, i love WoD questing. Good storytelling, great cinematics, cool zones. None of that legion and forward cramped labyrinth zones.

I do cata/vanilla unless my new character needs quick gold. I do bfa in that case. Grey items that drop in bfa payout more then like 5 quest rewards in cata/vanilla

My character don’t level, they quest.

And they aren’t alts, they are characters; fully rounded characters.

And they quest in expansions or zone that best suit and/or develop them. Right now my feral druid is questing in Sholazar Basin because it is a jungle and that is where she feels more at home while my mm hunter is questing in Highmountain because she knew Hemet Nesingwary was there and figured that indicated there would be some challenging hunting for her to experience.
