Aug or Devestation?
I am replaying my Evoker and dont know which is better?
I never played aug? only played a little of devestation when the xpac came out and stopped.
I dont know whats what.
I don’t know what type of content you want to run.
Aug is about group coordination and buffing the other DPS in the group at the right times to squeeze out the most you can from the buffs. It’s also far more survivable than devastation. If you’re not doing high end content with great DPS players, you may be frustrated with Aug. It’s also terrible for solo content compared to devastation.
Dev is a more glass cannon type spec with less survivability and utility than Aug, but more overall and personal DPS, and far better in solo content.
I would be doing like LFR or Normals. Also low key M+ up to maybe 8-10. I might stay with Devestation. I am not trying to be selfish but I don’t like doing the buff everyone thing support style class. I prefer the more do DPS mainly class.
Not selfish, smart in that lower level of content. The DPS you’ll generally be buffing in that content are far less likely to take advantage of an Aug played well.
If I pug anything lower than a 20 that doesn’t have any of my guild in it, I’m going devastation to actually get stuff dead.
The group utility and survivability is also far less critical in that content cause almost nothing can actually kill you.

Devastation is king when comparing the two for almost all content because you will have agency in what you do, if your group isn’t a bunch of All Star players you won’t be punished for it and it is a lot easier to work with because you don’t need to track cooldowns of other players.
Anything past 20 I’m told is where Dev starts to lose its usefulness, and doesn’t bring anything that other DPS with more utility do. Undecided on it myself but just running aug for higher stuff rn. I don’t mind buffing.
It also probably matters (a lot) whether you’re doing PUG groups or have a consistent group that will play to each other’s strengths and weaknesses in whatever class comp.
But I’m just doing m+ so idk about raiding much for this expac, seems fine for it.
Just do whichever you want in this case tbh. Aug will not really be put to its best use with low dps however and it’s fun to blow things up as Dev. The others make real good points about having more agency and group survivability being far less of a thing.
You’ll find friends with Aug. You’ll find critics with dev. You’ll roast things real good as dev and not so good as Aug.
