Is there any kind of tracking of which classes are managed by the same dev? Given what i’ve seen are massive disparities in feedback and communication, if i reroll i want to know which classes to avoid. Also is there any way to tell if they care about some classes more than others that they manage? Thanks!
Well, the fury warrior who got beat by a sub rogue on the dps charts will tell you that the devs don’t care about warriors, the demo lock that got beat by a ele shaman will say the same and the assassin rogue that got beat by a holy priest will also say the same.
Nope.
Fair but some specs have been literally reworked and tweaked every expansion. Others have sat there with the same issues every expansion for at least the last 3 and i’m supposed to be overjoyed they finally fixed that one problem we’ve had for 6 years while other classes got iterated on and actually evolved.
Lead Class Designer Adam Kugler and Senior Producer Travis M. Day are the two that that okays changes. Ion Hazzikostas might have it passed by him, but think he cares only if it going to effect his class.
The devs are still treating this like beta and make adjustments for the purpose of seeing how far they can take a class before it unplayable. Once they hit that wall they start the buffs or nerfs to bring it back into a better state.
Pretty sure the DK dev died in his cubicle 12 years ago, and they’ve just been too scared to report it.
Now that is some commitment.
All I know is there will never be a brilliant creator like Xelnath was for Warlocks in MoP.
Check out his article some time. He explains what class developers need to consider and go through, what flexibility they have, and how he decided to test against the norm and produce something magical.
R.I.P MoP Warlock. You’ll never be forgotten.
You might be missing the link. I’d love to read it.
Here you go:

Enjoy!
I think they just have a dart board with classes and the most darts becomes meta
Thank you kind sir!
In MoP they fired the one dev that was actively engaging with the playerbase…
Oof, why? Why did they do this?
Maybe he’s a DK himself now…
They broke company rules. They aired dirty laundry in public. (Which is never going to go well for any employee)
Your first mistake is thinking there’s anyone actually managing the classes.
Think one of the points they used in the firing was for breaching NDA, since he was talking about nerfs forced onto warlock by the other devs, before they were suppose to be revealed.
This was the same dev that let warlocks walk while casting (with a max level talent) as well as working towards giving them tanking by testing with the glyph Dark Apotheosis. And while the warlock tank was close to feature complete, their taunt was disabled for bosses, so we weren’t allowed to try it out in practice…
I don’t think they’d give this information.
While i can get behind legitimate feedback for classes, there are at the same time a dozen of ‘skill issue’ complaints they’d be inundated with.
Which dev is that Ghostcrawler ?
He left to join Riot and work on League of Legends .
He recently quit there because of some family situation then announced later on that he was forming his own game company . In fact the latest dev to quit Brian Holinka left to join him .
