Which Convenant do you think will be the most interesting Lore Wise?

So now we got an Idea on what is happening in each covenant and who will be in those zones which zone do you think will have the more interesting quests and lore reveals.

I feel that Ardenweald will have the best quests and reveals and characters to interact with. Not only do you get both Tyrande and Vol’jin being awesome but also bwomswamdi, the winter queen and muezala who all seem interesting. Also keen to see how the drust play into the zone.

Venthyr seem rather interesting, Getting to see old fella kaelthas might be a treat depending if hes still crazy or not.

Bastion seems kinda dull and basically like running through stormheim again. Bluther doesn’t really do anything for me. Though fighting Kel’thuzad again might be cool at the end of the zone/Dungeon.

Maldraxxus honestly seem Dull, Nothing really of interest here. Couldn’t care less about Draka and each time I think about it it such a waste not to Have anyone elase be present in this zone. Ogrim Doomhammer would have been such a better pick.

Maldraxxus for me, cause I like when the themes of a war machine and magic is merged into one. For Azeroth necromancy was a preversion of life and the Scourge was monsterous, but for Maldraxxus it’s a tool of war and as part of the realm as anything else.

Venthyr seem fun, but I’m also afraid it might be all surface. I hope they are interesting to actually interact with, as I dig the Dracula style vampire story and that seems to be Venthyr’s style.

Bastion is… Bastion. It’s more central European styled over the viking Stormheim, but I see the similarities too. We’ll see, Uther being a member of the enemy faction in the beginning may lead to an interesting story.

Night Fae I’m not sure on. While I do look forward to seeing Vol’jin and Tyrande, the Covenant itself doesn’t seem to have a whole lot. I’ll still run it, and I am actually interested in the Winter Queen, but it’s very nelfy and frankly we’ve had a ton of nelfy-druidic stuff, I’m afraid of it being more.

Draka is just one Baron. Alexandros Morgaine and Lady Vashj are also warlords of the Necrolords appearing in Maldraxxus.

Kel’thuzad is appearing in Maldraxxus too. I don’t recall him being mentioned for Bastion, but considering one of the Necrolord Barons are invading Bastion, it could be Kelly. Considering he appears in Maldraxxus which happens after Bastion, he’s likely not going to be part of Bastion’s end game.

Well, for me it will definitely be Ardenweald.

I want to see if and how Tyrande and the Night Elves are featured there. Maybe there’ll be atleast something positive, even if its small or in a low effort ingame cutscene.

Also the zone looks the best to me.

Definitely Ardenweald for me as well. Tyrande, Elune, and the aesthetic of the zone aside, it’s the only one with any real connection to old lore, besides Random Dead Guy/Gal #394 being plopped down into it. I’m eager to see how they try to reconcile the new lore, that Wild Gods and the Nature attuned make a pit stop there first, with old lore we’ve already seen. As recently as Legion, we see spirits of Archdruids, like Elothir and Elrethe, in the cleansed version of the Emerald Dream, even though the Shadowlands were already broken at this time, and by new lore, they should have been in Ardenweald if it wasn’t broken.

None of them interest me.

This whole expansion seems to be incredibly creatively bankrupt and I am cautiously optimistic for the next expansion to explore a satisfying faction war for once.

Maldraxxus seems overall the most interesting. I’m interested in Revendreth for the story potential it offers in offering potential posthumous redemption to certain characters that may have been unfairly treated in the past lore. Ardenweald might have cool troll lore in it even if it’s very nelfy at the core.

So anything but Bastion.

Doubt we’ll ever see another Horde / Alliance faction war. It’s getting old having the two factions that have been working together to save the world decide to once again turn on each other and start tearing it apart again.

We definitely will, and it will be so bad that even BfA’s writing will look good in comparison - and that means something.

Otherwise they’d just remove the damn faction barrier already.

They’ll have a new faction war when the next writing team shows up and thinks “hey, we can write it better than those other guys” but then it turns out no, no they cannot.

Maldraxxus and Ardenweald for sure - there will be some heavy lore exposition there. Ironically I think Revendreth, at this point in time, will be the most uninteresting. I say ironically because it’s where I’m going to go first. Elune and loa in Ardenweald, so many based characters in Maldraxxus and it having the best “realm of death” philosophy will make it great.

Ardenweald all the way! The zone itself and its themes are the reason I play these games. Also Tyrande/Elune/Night Elves related beings are going to be there so I’m going to be there as well.

Also I’m right there with you still baffled as to why the change of stablished Emerald Dream lore. I need a believable explanation because one unthought reason might destroy years of well developed and shown ingame lore which would be devastating to anyone attached to it.

Edit: it’s true the page is bugged as I’m unsubbed and I was able to post this… also I can’t post anymore XD

Lorewise they’re all probably interesting their own way. I’d rather rate them on aesthetics and how it expands upon their story.

:skull: Necrolords are the most interesting for me. I really dig the construct theme they have for the plate, mail, and leather sets. The plate set has this hulking feel to it. It’s as if dozens of bodies were used to create the massive construct inside the plate. The mail set gives me a heavy ranger vibe. It has a bit less than the plate set, but that’s because they’re more focused on the ranged side. It’s definitely a hunter set more than a shaman set. The leather set is more flesh than bone, and it reminds me of Precious from ICC. The cloth set is the most different from the other three. It gives me a pharaoh vibe instead of the other three armor sets.

:skull:It’s interesting that cloth deviates from the others. It implies that maybe cloth is the one controlling the other three construct sets. I also like the soul color emanating from all four sets. It’s a callback from the soul color we get from Helya. Bwomsandi has a similar color to it as well.

:skull: The Necrolords themselves are pretty interesting as well. We only have a glimpse on what to expect a Necrolord to look like. They’re very tall, skeletons, love dark colors, and wear huge robes. It makes me wonder how Draka will look like. Will she look like an Orc or a Necrolord?

:vampire:Venthyr is second best when it comes to aesthetics to me. They didn’t release the mail set. I would of had a tougher time picked between Necrolords and Venthyr if it was complete.

:vampire:I really like their plate set. It’s very Blood Knight-esque. I think Jizzard took influence from Warhammer Vampires on this set. There’s a faction of vampires called the Blood Dragons that dress the same. The gargoyle shoulders are a bit much though. The best part of the set is the design of the plate. To me the set looks like flayed flesh. I like how they incorporated punishment for sins as an aesthetic choice in the set.

:vampire:The leather and cloth sets to me are a bit too similar. They look more like everyday clothes compared to work clothes. It’s cool if the person wants to equip civilian wear. I guess that’s the theme considering that Venthyr is also about that gothic look.

:vampire: I dig the Vampire aesthetic the citizens have. I really dig the Penny Dreadful look their realm gives out. I like how they made female vampires sexy, but not human but with a different skin tone. Very true blood. I also like the look of their gargoyles. I want one. Those gargoyles remind me of the Disney Garogyles in the 90s. Very cool.

:vampire: The vampire civilian wear makes me question if civilians exist on Hot Topic. Is everyone there required to make me repent for my sins? If so then why are there feast halls?

:butterfly: Night Fae are a third for me in aesthetics. The plate set is all wood which gives me a treant feel. It’s a more humanoid treant. I like it. I like the blue color coming from the top of its head, shoulders, and eyes. It makes me feel like a wisp spirit is inhabiting that tree and is the realm’s protector. The mail set looks like Cata-era dungeon set TBQHWY. However, I can see the insect vibe they’re going with it. The leather set is the true Night Fae set imo. It’s very druid. It also had glass vials on its belt. The cloth set also gives off an insectoid feel. However, istead of the mail’s beetle the cloth is a moth.

:butterfly: I read in wowpedia that fauns are using the fem draenei skeleton. Very interesting art coming soon. It’s very traps aren’t gay vibe. What’s most interesting about them is their similarities to satyrs. I think it opens an interesting topic if satyrhood is a fel corruption on the elf form or a mockery of the faun form. Does that also mean that trolls can become satyrs?

 Kyrian gives me a high heaven vibe. I think it’s the colors. I like the Diablo angels aesthetic, just not this one. The plate shoulders look like toilet bowls and the helmet looks like a cup. The glow just makes it look overflowing. I like the marble coloring though. It feels like the wearer is made of ornate stone. It’s very unique in that way. Leather looks too much like plate. Cloth is where I think the most work went. Jizzard did a really good job making the cloth look like actually cloth. It looks malleable. Just look at the collar on those robes!

 The Kyrian is where the lore gets interesting. Everyone, no matter what they originally were, becomes a smurf with wings. Truly this means the human form is the pinnacle of racial design. They become val’kyr or spirit healers to other worlds.

Obviously Ardenweald. The lush forest theme is amazing and it will obviously feature Tyrande and have a nice night elf influence. Finally we will get the chance to explore and focus on Elune. I just hope it’s done right. I’m so excited for this zone. After that I think that Renvendarth is going to be very interesting as well, dark and Gothic. I want to see how that works too.

I’m with you on this. I love night elf content but after a while it’s annoying when its always tied to the druids. I’ve had enough of that.

Adenwald is biggest disappointment design-wise and the Tooth Fearie is another one in terms of design I am afraid it’s lore is going to be a huge let down if they would put Loa in there. This zone is nelf friendly but not really friendly to all wild gods aesthetics. Rezan deffinietly wouldn’t fit among stags and unicorns. Feels like Val’sharah and Shadowmoon Valley merge not a place where wild gods reincarnate and I wish they went with different aesthetics for nature, and draw different inspirations for zone where wild gods reincarnate. It’s just another fearie forset, and quite literally this time.

The other ones all seems meh, I am not into vampires, never were fan of them. Bastion is super dull but Maldraxxus offers great mogs and I guess I’ll end up there. Besides the warmachine afterlife faction could be neat and I quite like that they set assault on Kyrians.

I honestly don’t expect them to acknowledge it. They might, but really, I’m just waiting to see how Ardenweald functions, and if there’s some way I can take it upon myself to reconcile any inconsistencies.

I see a two-fold solution on that, if they could ever be bothered to put in the effort. One is as simple as not conflating Night Elven content with Druid content. Focus more intently on the Priesthood, the Sentinels, the Wardens, maybe even the Demon Hunters, and especially the Highborne. Most of the content for the Sisterhood and Wardens in Legion was in the form of dungeons and raids, and the Highborne content was developed only to give another facet of Night Elven culture to the Horde. In BfA, the co-operation between the different groups in the Warfront was pretty good, the Warfront itself was just underwhelming. And Nazjatar was a huge missed opportunity regarding Mordent, any of the other Highborne, or their new students.

The second is to divorce Night Elven Druidism from the other kinds of druidism. It’s yet another missed opportunity after Teldrassil, when Malfurion Neutralrage himself is fighting on behalf of his people, that the Night Elven Druids didn’t throw their hands up and say “Y’know what? We’re not doing this anymore”, pack up their Circle, and leave.

This! There are so many facets to the society beyond the druids. It was ok in the beginning because druids were almost exclusively Night Elves with a few Tauren here and there. That is no longer the case. As it stands the wardens and Priests of the moon are 2 of the most exclusive and distinct groups with the game and yet the get zero focus or attention. They didn’t even do the priest raid content in tos right, both Maiev and Tyrande should have been there during that portion of the raid.

Which is why they should have remained netural or having the option to pick either faction with Suramar acting as a hub for all elves.

I love the co-orporation. The society had finally united. The warfront was bland. We didn’t even get the upgraded version that Arathi did with heroics. Nazjatar…sigh. so much was missed. We didn’t even get a full view of it. A small corner was Zin Azshari and the rest was new dull content. The whole thing should have been under water Kaldorei ruins with Naga upgrades.

Not only would that be great for the Night Elves but the other druid races would have to feel forced into an aesthetic that doesn’t match.

By aesthetic alone, I’m most interested in the Venthyr right now. I love the gothic-style castles and clothes. Weirdly enough, it makes me nostalgic for that vampire zone in Runescape when I played it as a kid. I’m also very excited for Kael’thas to have a role (hopefully not a disappointing one).

I love the look and story so far of the other three, but I’m definitely most optimistic for Revendreth.

Night Fae is the only one I’m interested in, and I actually am very looking forward to it even if I don’t understand the need to retcon Wild Gods going to the Dream upon death.

I’m completely neutral on Venthyr and Kyrians, and as I’ve said before, Maldraxxus not only looks super boring to me lorewise but their models and the look of the zone actually make me queasy to the point I can’t look at them longer than a few seconds. That’s never happened to me in WoW before. I have no idea how I’m going to level there.

Maybe because both themes are present in Death Knights but it seems to me that Maldraxxus and Venthyr could have been the same covenant. One is undead centric and the other is also undead centric but with more vampires.

Unless I’m totally off base here and completely wrong about what purpose those covenants serve here.

Maladraxxus due to Kel’Thuzad.
Still going Ravenloft, though.
