OP didn’t specify if they meant class power or lore. They posted on a lvl 30 DH so I was guessing it was regarding what class they should choose lol.
It’s a pocket universe with a fragment of a timeline that was collapsing and would be gone. That’s how they work, according to the Bronze flight. So that timeline is probably poof after Legion.
Frostmourne op
I remember that in one of the DK quests they dealt with shards of Frostmourne to make a dagger (?) and an echo of Arthas and Ner’zhul were in the shards. So find more shards, or heck any fragment of the Helm of Domination, and an echo of Illidan and the fight is on.
It’s probably not. I mean the timeline may be gone but I would stake money that sooner or later (probably sooner) we will hear from Yrel, Grommash, and Exarch Hellscream, especially if Void vs Light is an expansion theme.
DKs gather all the shards of Frostmourne for that quest to forge the Blades of the Fallen Prince.
Who knows?
Will they come up with some poorly shoehorned storyline to retcon more stuff for the “cool factor?” Probably. But as of right now, none of them should exist anymore. Although I can see the Naaru saying, “LOOK AT HER ZEAOLTRY! WE NEED TO SAVE HER FROM TIME!”
People are expecting the Infinite Dragonflight to get up to some stuff. Makes more sense than going back in time to form the Iron Horde at least.
Death Knights, simply because Demon Hunters are hyper-fixated on one particular enemy and target.
This is the biggest problem with the Demon Hunter as a concept.
“I gave up everything to destroy the Legion!”
“Okay, cool, but like… that was last season. Now we’re fighting water snakes and giant fish monsters.”
Sure, the Death Knight does have specific connotations tying it to the Scourge and Undeath, but it’s still a general enough idea that it doesn’t immediately beg the question, “why are you here again?” It’s the generic dark knight archetype - it slots into basically any place where you need remorseless amoral violence flavored with dark magic. It’s not the “Scourge Knight” - it’s the Death Knight.
Trusted suppliers of all-purpose death.
The Demon Hunter has too strong of an identity. Damning yourself to fight demons is pretty rad… until demons aren’t the problem. And, even if their powers are generically functional, you can’t get away from the concept. Perhaps if the name wasn’t so limiting it’d be better, but it doesn’t change the nature of their origins and purpose.
I think they are both extremely powerful but the undead will always hold a special advantage over the living. The Demon Hunters were taught by Illidan himself! I think that is an advantage for sure, yet only the most powerful Death Knights survive through their training (and time with Arthas) as well. Death Knights “gift” of undeath and defensive frost magic (plus anti-magic shells) vs the incredibly mobile Demon Hunter with demon skin and fel magic.
That would be a real show down!
But beyond that Imo they both look great. Unholy DK is an absolute blast to play. Demon Hunter is always super tempting for their double jump and glide.
It’s sort like just choosing between do you want to be able to reach the enemy quickly or make them come to you
But I really like that I can be night fae on a dk as well, it gives me a speed boost and even a slow fall with my soul bind! Sort of makes it even better!
Dk vote from me.
Eh read the novel Arthas, your boy was being dominated and only got lucky exploiting illidan when he got cocky
Drat. Then on to scraps of the Helm of Domination.
My DK has lots of strength but my DH doesn’t have any strength. My vote goes to DK.
Imo demon hunters have the edge…
They were both created to fight the burning legion…
2nd gen death knights and 3rd gen were part of arthas/nerzuls plan to rebel against the dread lords aka burning legion and that’s why arthas wanted to kill the living and make a single army under his command.
Dk pros:
- Anti magic tools / spells
- Require no food/sustenance
- Weapons drain souls
- Generally made stronger than mortal self
- Can raise the dead they slaughter to re-supply ranks
- Only the strong in life are chosen to be resurrected as a dk
- Have a floating citadel to move armies
Dh pros:
- Anti magic resistance due to tattoos
- Skin is hard as armor
- Super human speed/str
- Enhanced sight and it would be almost impossible to get a jump on one
- Fel magic is chaotic and will cut through magic resistances
- Weapons feed on souls
- only the strongest among them survive to be demon hunters.
- Have an army of naga and broken to assist
- Have a literal space ship to travel and nuke
- Can transform to Demi god like beings for short durations
- Some of them have proven to be immortal like illidan.
They are both shock troop like organizations, but if I would choose between the two to handle a situation, it would be demon hunters all day long.
Death Knight, when I play the Demon Hunter I usually misjudge distances and go sailing off a cliff and frantically mash the key board forgetting how to glide.
Make the nexus from heroes of the storm sort of cannon? And make nexus maps in warcraft? Could just make it an alternate universe excursion. And add stuff from other blizzard games in that “alternate realm”.
That novel is not canon I believe and it really conflicts with narrative
It would be a good fight!!!
It’s as canon as the war of ancients series and the illidan novel…
They are all legit
There is also a reason why illidan is sargeras’s jailer and not any of the names death knights
