Which class is best for Tank?

So I am thinking about doing a new character, and I’m just curious about which class is best for Tanking? Is it the Warrior, the Paladin, or the Death Knight?

Blood DK is pretty tough and VERY easy to play.
Death strike does damage while healing you so you arent having to bang a heal button if your healer chumps out on you.

Out of those three it’s probably blood dk. Just because it’s the one tank that really doesn’t need to worry about a healer. You can heal yourself.

For me personally, the most fun tank is vengeance dh. Mobility is insane. And just so much fun moving around.

Is monk any good?

No tank is bad. All are able to do the content you want to do. Now at the absolute high end some might struggle.

But monk is probably the least played tank and probably class as a whole.

Brewmaster.
Just because it is fun, and the most different to the other tanks.

No Bear?? I like paladin a lot too. I’ve been leveling and he’s almost 60.

I like Paladins. got a good tool set, and I rarely die, except to stupid things I do and not paying attention.

Something I don’t always understand.

I did my M+ runs yesterday with a healer friend (admittedly we only did M0 just for fun) and my WW Monk consistently either topped or was in the top couple of dps for every run. I find it a fun and engaging class and spec to play. It certainly requires some actual thought to play it but that’s not always a bad thing imo.

Monk was the first and only new class added to the game that wasn’t edgy (except for evoker). Death Knight and Demon Hunter are both edgelord classes.

Also I like DHs because they have great transmog and unique customization options that I wish I could have on my other night elf characters (particularly the scaly skin options which look great). Also they have a lot of mobility, which I guess is sort of true of brewmasters but not as much

Are we talking ease of use? Least healer attention? Which is most in demand? Which one doesn’t get ruined by patches?

All tanks are capable of all content though some might be more effort to achieve cutting edge or ksh over others.

Some have toolkits that are strong for certain content and others might just have really high dps for that season which can influence the meta.

I play monk because I love the themes and stagger makes me happy but I have dabbled in all six specs and they all have their fun little things.

I can tell you that the best race for tanks is currently dwarf though! Being able to remove just about every single debuff and gain 10% damage reduction is insane!

Dwarves can’t be druids or vengeance though. But vengeance is still an extremely strong tank this season.

It’s two fold. Class fantasy doesn’t appeal to a lot of players. Like mists was the one expansion where a lot of players felt the huge disconnect from the Warcraft fantasy. And two, gameplay of all specs isn’t the most engaging when combined with the class fantasy. You can play just about any other class and have better results and/or more fun. Like personally I hate ww’s mastery. I understand the idea of it, but having to not repeat an ability kills the flow for me. And I know it’s debated by a lot of people whether they like it or not.

I love brew, can vibe with mist but hate playing WW.

I don’t like their cds, I don’t want temporary summons, I don’t enjoy the rotation and their stat interaction/scaling is so bland or bad that vers or short windows of extreme haste are the current solutions.

And for ww I hate the sound effects of their abilities. Like I would expect some super powerful sounding kicks and punches. But they sound like a thud. Like blackout kick sounds like a whoosh lol

Oh! Another big one, a lot of people don’t like the way weapons are never used and just sit sheathed all the time.

I play Guardian and VDH around 2500-2800io this xpac. I mained VDH last season but I’m not a fan of the sigil focused build this patch so I’m maining Druid. It’s better than I thought it would be and I’m really having fun.

Of the 3 you originally posted about, I’d recommend BDK if you’re new to tanking. I really enjoy tanks that don’t use a shield so take that with a grain of salt.

Rogue with 99% dodge chance.

Warriors have more than enough self sustain in lower keys, a lot of the comparisons made against them are looking too deeply into the reactiveness of prot paladin with off healing or a blood dk being able to negate any form of intake.

Shockwave is incredibly strong and things like that and leg sweep from monks really put warrior and monk ahead of tanks like bear if all you’re looking for is a tank that can group around any composition and fill in the blanks.

Shield wall and last stand are great, transparent to healer, cooldowns and if you aren’t pushing cutting edge and you expect low tier teammates it can be very easy for any of them to play around a warrior of any skill level.

Personally…

DK feels like you can take care of yourself. Plus death grip is incredibly nifty and so is slappy hands. It’s also, least IMHO, one of the easiest tanks to play.

Pally also feels as though you can take care of yourself, plus you have the added bonus of a “support” tank. I’ve seen my buddies do 20+ and the healer eat it and he keep up a group on his pally.

Personally go with what style you like. Unless a tank has been nerfed into the ground you’ll be fine on what you choose as long as you know your kit.
