Before SoD I would’ve said I respected Druids the most. A terrble class full of suffering that only players truly dedicated to the lore and fantasy would play.
In SoD, most druids are metaslave rerollers that went feral for Windfury or Boomie for OP starsurges back at the tail-end of phase 1.
And of course nobody respects Paladins, even back in Vanilla Classic
Nowadays I think I respect Warlocks the most. They seem to enjoy bringing raid utility and aren’t super smug about it.
I respect warriors because they take a bit more skill to optimize (macros, stance dance, rage management, weapon swaps etc.) But usually 9/10 of those warriors act smug as all hell.
Don’t believe me, just ask a question in the Fight Club discord and see how they respond.
can we split this up by spec? cuz i have a pretty solid amount of respect for healer and tank pallies and absolutely none whatsoever for rets
but if i have to group by class, we’ll go with high respect for… shoot, this is actually a hard question
cuz i want to say shaman but i don’t respect the fotm rerollers last phase
i want to say rogues after that cuz i don’t think i’ve ever actually grouped with a toxic rogue in SoD but i also don’t respect the griefers from EITHER faction
mages are neutral cuz i don’t respect the bots and aoe boosters but i do respect the chill ones
priests too, love the ones who just randomly buff me for no reason. they get a cookie in return if i notice in time. they might actually be my most respected class now that i think about it
not gonna comment on my own class
least respect goes to a tie between pallies (there are too many rets for my respect for the tank and healer pallies to be noticeable here) and warriors, who have probably the worst case of main character syndrome aside from rets
hunters are just sort of there, but i never respected them much in the first place even disregarding fotm rerolling and the whole “it’s a hunter weapon” thing. love grouping with the ones who can manage their pets tho
I probably respect Shamans the most. They have no CC and no outs, they’re basically walking turrets and they actually throw people heals. They deserve this much power because of the abuse they suffered back in the day, they were free HKs for all of vanilla and TBC. In arena you trained the Shaman all the way until Cata when they become low key tanky af.
I think I respect Hunters the least. They are just pure garbo. The only thing difficult for a Hunter is managing their little pets and bullets.
Given context here, I play on a pve server, horde only and I don’t pvp. I still want to rank paladins the least respectable due to the sheer number amount of pink whiners here. That is unfair though, because, as stated, they don’t actually exist in my world. As for the classes I do interact with, I feel some small grudge towards warriors whenever I see plate drop, but that is not their fault. Still, I would probably go with them or rogues, simply for the fact that they whine about their own class almost as much as paladins.
I would like to follow that with the assurance that I haven’t met anyone in game that I felt was a person worthy of disrespect based on their class. Trolls of course know no class boundaries.
Deserving of respect, I would probably say mage as every one I group with is quick to offer a portal or water. Plus, they make aoe pulls so much cleaner when I am tanking, and often quick with the counterspell to pulling ranged mobs.
I still can be moderately smug and still get respected, right? No smug might be asking too much of me.
I have thought this a lot. I used to love seeing Druids in Vanilla and Classic, they were generally such chill and helpful players. Rocking those harmony with nature, transcendence above faction wars vibes.
Now I look at them with disdain. Toxic boomies everywhere.
