So, since Hollow is terminally bugged for the foreseeable future, I can’t get either Stormbringer’s Runed or the Fathomdweller’s Runed for my Warlock. What else should I use till they fix that one?
I’d sim the rings you were wearing previously, because without the BIS rings your original rings may be superior.
Edit: Nevermind, are you posting on your relevant toon? It’s probably better than your green rings then.

I don’t use the ring. Waiting for a couple more weeks till it’s actually an upgrade.
Probably none. Even with the best gems at the current ilvl the ring is only around a 1% upgrade for most classes. And since 2 of the best gems are unavailable it’s likely none of them will be better than just using a normal champion or hero level ring.

If I had to take a guess it would be Fathomdweller, Stormbringer, and Legendary
There are some work arounds to get those stones, but people have to be coordinated. My best success was with raids and dropping right before the boss dies.
The stat gems were the best combination for me. The damage proc ones were a dps loss for me given my other rings at the time. I’d say sim it against what you have to find out or attempt the work around methods to get the gems.
Fathom and Storm are kind of near impossible to get right now, because the event that drops them is super bugged out.

I farmed Shuddering Hollow for days. Prolly 20-30 kills, then I got them both back to back.
yea, it kept bugging out on me also.
The quest would disappear seconds after pulling the boss.
then we had a tank pull it all the way to the back of the room behind the stone pillar and it worked. He stayed for 2 kills thank fully and thats when I got mine
It’s honestly not that bad; you need to go outside of peek hours when a billion idiots aren’t yoloing it, but the gems do drop.
That having been said when they drop can be… bizzare. I got a fathom while I was waiting for the event to start for the third time.
I expect blizz to be tinkering with this for at least a week, but when you get this thing the ring is actually huge; the way it loops it’s mastery values means that it has a tendency to make all your secondary stats go up a hell of a lot. My enhance Shaman is currently running around with an idiotic amount of it so they’re up and around 65%, while my Augvoker is at 12%.
Also: once you get the stupid thing you can send copies of it to your alts which will let you bypass this whole fiasco.
Well, I’d call being teleported outside the Hollow constantly during the fight, Stag running to follow and then the boulders re-appearing as he clips through them to reset: “Bad”.
I got lucky with gem drops, so the ring has been a pretty big upgrade for me.
I disagree with the Wowhead article though, I stuck on the highest secondary (Crit) since it was taking a huge chunk of my most important secondary, with the mastery gem and lightning proc gem. I never was huge on random effects so I didn’t really want to try Skipper.
Hearthstone cards like “Get a random Legendary!” sound great, until you realize there’s a lot of bad Legendaries.

I couldn’t get any gems to drop cuz people were trolling the boss. But I went to the npc and I could buy all the gems they were all unlocked. So I just bought my three bis as they never dropped from the boss but when I went to the vendor I could buy. Not sure if that will work for anyone else.
if they dropped once for the toon the alts can buy them

I feel similarly. I am not fond of random procs. I went with Fathomdwellers, Stormbringers and Windsingers for my Devastation Evoker.
Hotfix? My alts could only buy the gems they unlocked themselves, although my main could certainly buy all the gems and mail them to alts. The only exception was the three citrines on the Tortolan vendor… those were there for all alts, without having done a single quest.
The ring is absolutely an upgrade currently unless you’re playing the game entirely solo.
Skippers isn’t that random. It gives you a proc every 15 seconds at least and in group content is EXTREMELY strong due to how it interacts when it rolls roaring war queen.
The rng largely gets smoothed out by the fact everyone is using it.
