Thrall takes it for me. Anduin Wrynn and Jaina Proudmoore would be great too.
EDIT: Pick Simon/Richter. Easy to use, good range. Spam your B projectiles.

A good starter character is Samus, a good strong charater for anyone to handle is Lucina, her sword is pretty strong.

I played Snake to make my friends rage. Guided Rocket OP against bad players. xD
Play Kirby he has always been op.
My main is cloud, look up top tier charts. But also know in fighting games it’s 20% the fighter and 80% the player. My buddy is in the E-sport scene with a Mid tier character which is Gannon. Or like hungrybox who took a low tier trash character like puff and made it top tier by his amazing plays.
Top character everyone is playing which is a one trick pony up to elite smash would be Joker, the first DLC fighter.
i honestly stopped playin smash, use to pick captain falcon or fox mostly.
I remember when Mokron wanted people to sign a petition for GARROSH HELLSCREAM to be a char for smash.
So i went rebel and asked to put Steve from minecraft
I use to also play Samus alot too, thought samus was a guy too, That was a surprise for a kid!
I could argue those who play OP top tier characters are trash players who don’t really deserve to be in leaderboards.

I’m a Roy, Pikachu, and Robin user. Mostly Pikachu and always have been him.

Lucina is a strong starter pick. Mario is newbie friendly to the core though, as his abilities are very straight forward. Kirby freaking flies and swallows things, and that’s always fun. Not hard to grasp either.
For WoW characters, I’d say Thrall or Jaina are the most notable characters at current, with maybe Genn Greymane being a potential pick. Bonus, he could morph between human and worgen form.
Meanwhile my first encounter with samus was certain type of fanart so, no surprises there ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Snake’s a great pick once you get used to him. If someone gives you time to set up they’re going to have a bad time.
The Nikita is a godsend projectile. Enemy recovering High? Hit them or get them to burn their airdash early for a more predictable recovery. Recovering low? Get a missile in between them and the ledge and they’re dead.
