For me the choice was simple. The leader of the black dragonflight should fulfill the charge of their flight: to protect the earth. while Sabellion’s only claim to fame is “we survived in outland”, Wrathion has done much to protect Azeroth.

One black dragon alone can’t protect the earth. Sabel’s focus on surviving, reproducing, and rebuilding the flight should also stand for something, no?
When Wrathion thought the black dragon eggs had been destroyed, he truly didn’t even care. He just wanted to go tell mom (Alextrasza).
When Alextrasza asked him to stay and help ensure the defenses of the Ruby Life Pools after Razageth herself came and attacked, Wrathion said “nah, I gotta go take back this citadel”. The Life Pools where dragon eggs incubate… or a castle that can be taken later?
I don’t know. Wrathion has been painted super poorly this xpac so far.

I supported the one who chose to cure and save his race vs genocide them all because he is extra special and only he deserves to live.
What the hell is Wrathion even gonna lead? He may as well just go solo since that was literally his plan till Sabellan rolled up with more dragons.

Not to potentially add fuel to the flame for some, but I am kind of surprised Wrathion isn’t considering mating with other flights.
As far as I know it can happen but is just viewed as “non-traditional”. I think it would be interesting at least to get a naturally born Chromatic Dragon, and would fit with the whole idea of Wrathion going against the mold in certain ways.

That ship sailed with Kalecgos and Jaina, then it crashed and burned but we already have a dragon going against the mold. Wrathion can be very short sighted when it comes to things outside of his point of view. That really has not changed much since MoP.

ARent there a few NPCs that have a beef with Sabellions fathers history?
I think that was what made me choose wrathion. That and I like the cool facial hair, lol

Wrathion had the Warglaive transmog and since I’m playing a DH I picked him, also he kept guilt tripping me when I originally picked Sebellion which made me feel bad.

I am true friends with Wrathion and I will be working on True friends with sab this week on the toon I sent into DF.
I still gotta do it on fuzz lol
For me, the choice is even simpler:
Sabellian will give me a cooler-looking axe.

Since Ebonhorn isn’t an option, which is no surprise since everything has to be human or elf with Blizzard, I guess I’ll go with Sabellian.
Wrathion had his chance, he blew it, and got a lot of people killed.

I don’t think Wrathion feels all that attached to his flight. Growing up his flight sought to kill him and he conspired (successfully) to eliminate black dragons. He didn’t care when eggs were “destroyed” because he doesn’t really care about his flight. He cares about his legacy as Deathwings heir, and as Azeroth’s protector (never clear WHY Wrathion is so invested in this), but not his flight.
Sablemane is kind of the opposite. He’s focus has been on preserving his flight, but he’s been a nonentity for pretty much every major event impacting a Azeroth. Frankly, Sablemane’s desire to be the aspect makes MORE sense to me since, for all intents and purposes, he has been the “leader” of his flight in a way Wrathion has never been, but He hasn’t been protector of Azeroth, which is the purpose the Aspects were created for.
The interesting thing about their conflict isn’t that one is actually better suited to being an aspect than the other, it’s that individually neither of them are really suited for it, at all.
