Blizz said they would grow their dev team by 20%. Are they working on Shadowlands? Are they working on other games? They better not be off making mobile games. WoW needs a bigger dev team if they have to cut 8.3.5 to meet deadlines.

Just means they won’t have a event patch before shadowland drops no biggie.
All working on the next expansion apparently.
Pretty sure we’ve heard that since WoLTK. “Dev team is larger than ever”.
Guess smaller/more efficient is the way to go. Game has suffered in quality since WOLTK and beyond.

Shadowlands is going to be Legion 3.0 AP LOLFAIL system. There is NO WAY they’ve tasked any meaningful brainpower to it.
Legion fooled people into thinking it was good by giving people iconic weapon mogs.
BFA is just an extension of all of the terrible systems introduced in Legion. AP, additional RNG layers, infinitely scalable content designed to keep you playing, etc.
As far as I’m concerned BFA is the worst xpac to date, with Legion following behind in close second.
Most descriptions of Legion are “Legion was great except ” (options include legendary acquisition, rng, AP, etc.).
Those are precisely the reasons why I rank BFA and Legion so low.
I can look past a content drought when I think back on an expac )I likely took a break from the game during those times_.
They certainly didn’t leave me with the “why do I even bother with this” feeling that most of the recent game systems have had.

Legion’s systems weren’t perfect but they weren’t terrible either. The issue with BfA is that they took those systems and actually made them terrible.

I haven’t seen anything from a dev or description of the expansion that leads me to think SL will be anything other than a continuation of the crapfest that is BFA with the same systems just named something different. I have yet to see any hint that they are actually DOING something about the systems they say they know we hate and that they are listening to us…except to rename them and make them mandatory.

I mean - the neck and the weapon are basically the same thing.
Azerite traits + corrupted gear are essentially the legion legendaries that also have AP tied into it (except worse in that you need to keep obtaining it).
BFA just builds on all of the terrible features that Legion introduced.

One hopes. I’m totally okay with shortchanging the patch I was already going to peace out of if it means they can put more resources into getting out of it.
That said, this is what I’m afraid of.

From what I understand, 8.3.5 was never announced as a thing but there were some technical implications that it was previously in the works. It’s since been announced to be off the table altogether.
A lot of people liked legion legendaries and found them very rewarding.
A lot of people have said to me these exact words: “I miss Legion”.
Blizzard says a lot of things. Sometime prior to the release of WoD they announced that they were intending to release new expacs yearly and had hired 200 new devs.
I see no indication from the quality, quantity, or speed of release of content that any of this happened.

The weapon and neck are basically the same thing I suppose…except each weapon was unique for the spec. Which gave a whole lot of options in terms of getting special appearances and mogs as well as 3 separate items to level up/work on as a goal. What customization was there with the neck or the azerite crap ….crap abilities that were really choices, locked behind a grind with no customization besides if you get lucky with drops for a specific trait. In essence, legion was ok, but bfa took every system and made it more clunky, less customizable, and worse in about every way. So in legion there was enough good to balance the negative stuff about the systems…BFA got rid of the good and pushed harder on the grinding and negative systems with no customization. Every system is worse in this expansion, and it seems like they are actively trying to make it worse as each day goes by. Time played metrics I suppose?
I’ve also heard from a ton of folks how much they miss classic. In fact I’m sure there is a fairly large community of them somewhere out there.
I mean everyone always misses “better days”.
Must be nice. I certainly still remember getting the worse legendary for my class. Then my bad luck protection kicking in only to give me another middle of the road one.
I also remember when they finally “fixed” it by adding a currency to let you buy the one you wanted and the xpac being basically over at that point. Mage tower retired, etc., etc. Almost as if to troll us.
Yeah I really hated Legion. BFA is just Legion 2.0.
I’m one of the many holdouts farming old mogs and mounts while we wait for “WoW to get good again”, but honestly it is starting to feel hopeless. It certainly won’t happen in BFA.
Is there an official source 8.3.5 was cancelled? Besides youtube scum spreading rumors?
The word “cancelled” must be used.
