Probably because anyone with any type of leadership could do this, especially since it’s not like he has an entire city to run since, you know, yours was burnt down.
Aren’t the night elves being taken care of by the humans? I don’t think that needs much leadership. So yeah it’s really odd that Malfy isn’t searching for his wife too.

Edit: If anyone cares, this is said in the novel Shadows Rising. So now I’m wondering if this is ever going to be a proper home for the night elves or is this just going to stay in a book.
So to answer my own question to Rhielle, I assume Malfy is in Hyjal, settling his people in their new home. Maybe he has some left over aszerite beast to get rid of or something?

And for those who didn’t care about the incredibly terrible storytelling (that never illustrated that whole Xavius trolling incident properly anyway) it just meant the annoyance of MALFOOOOOOOOOORIUNNNNNNN and OHHH TYRANNNDAAAA obnoxiously assaulting your ears every time you levelled an alt.
