Where's Malfurion?

Every time Malfurion has been in trouble, Tyrande has been there at the fore font leading the search and guiding players to find and help him.

Wouldn’t we like to know at least some snippet of what he has been doing all this time?

He probably stayed behind to heal the land that the Horde blighted to oblivion and maybe protect whoever is left in Kalimdor from further Horde or scourge attacks.

We don’t know how much time has passed on Azeroth. Blizzard intoned that the passage of time could be different. So who knows what is going on on Azeroth while we are in the Shadowlands - other than Calia seems to be in communication with Lorthemar and Aggra to be able to tell them Thrall is safe.

But I don’t think Malfurion knew Tyrande would jump in to a portal all recklessly and alone. By the time he got news, even if he headed there with all speed, when would he arrive, if time passes differently?

But maybe he and Tyrande had a discussion, and they decided he should stay to protect their people and heal the land while she hunts the Banshee.

They may have come to a decision that it’s not a good idea to give an opportunity for Horde assassins to take out both Night Elf leaders at once.

Kind of how like the President and Vice President never travel to the same function.

Leading the night elves back home and helping them rebuild.

I know WoW almost never shows racial leaders actually leading, but that is ostensibly part of their job.

While Tyrande went to the Shadowlands, Shandris and Maiev stayed behind to care for the Old Druid. Taking him out for ice cream. Playing checkers with him.

As a participant of many Tyrande-raid defense teams, I can say it wouldn’t surprise me if he was just standing passively by.

I would like to know why 1) Malfurian was prophecised as the ‘Enemy of Death’ by Ner’zul in the Arthas prologue and why he’s not here to defeat Ner’zul even after Elune’s divine intervention to save him at the expense of the victims of Teldrassil 2) I want to know why in Stormrage, they showed a bad omen of Night elves serving Death if they underwent the Night Warrior ritual 3) I want to know why void aligned enities like Xal’atath, with all thier knowledge, consider Elune to be both an “upstart goddess” and “the greatest enemy”

Malfurian being absent right now is an odd lore choice, considering what Tyrande is risking. I thought they would bring him in after that whole Quadrin and his husband plot.

One can only hope that there is a big payoff for Nelf players at the end of all this. I am not holding my breath though. Not only because I think Blizzard is incapable of portraying Night Elves as anything but accessories to a human-centric Alliance. But also because I have no faith the current WoW story dev team could do anything like that in away that is actually cool and interesting, and doesn’t utterly ruin Elune.
