upgrading in this manner is only for pve ilvl and comes with the general crest/flightstone discounts for items you already have that ilvl in. I think its a good thing that I can funnel honor into alts to gear them up and still be able to upgrade the pve ilvl of gear i use outdoors in warmode.

So you can’t simply use a Trophy of Strife to upgrade a base (blue) piece already acquired to its max PvP ilvl? Or can you?
No. You buy the upgraded pieces for bloody tokens and trophies of strife. This is likely why the token cost of gear is significantly reduced compared to seasons 1 and 2.
If that’s the case it doesn’t really make sense.

This is the part a lot of people are still missing. Upgrading it does nothing for PvP encounters of any kind. World, BGs, arenas, shuffle, blitz…the PvP ilvl remains exactly the same in PvP encounters regardless of the base upgrade ilvl. The upgrade only affects PvE engagements.

All these videos and talks of bloody coins and jumping through all these hoops to get a little bit of a leg up, when 99% of players aren’t pushing until the end of the season

do we know mechanism yet, Trophies from Sparks of Life like always - 8 per week?, and how mnay Bloody Tokens, same as blues?, farmed 6k, just in case…
It doesn’t make sense why blue pieces are purchasable with bloody tokens but not upgradable for PvP.
no gear is upgradeable for pvp.

So iirc in S2 you upgraded the blue wPvP pieces with Trophies of Strife. You actually used the upgrade vendor. But from what the blue said it sounds like this season it doesn’t work that way. Instead you buy the epic wPvP pieces using bloody tokens and Trophies of Strife. So why buy the blue pieces?
Why buy blue honor gear when conquest gear exists?
Why buy blue WM gear when blue honor gear drops tuesday?

because the set bonuses make warmode gear better than honor gear for warmode without impeding on honor gear’s territory of instanced content
