He’s on the cover of the game, he’s in the cinematic fighting and being all “FOR THE ALLIANCE!” in a huge battle against the Horde. And you’re like sweet dude, finally a real leader for the Alliance, right?
But in the actual game he just kinda shows up and is like “Hey guys what about being peaceful with each other?” and wanders off to flirt with his new obvious love interest.
What a letdown. Like, is he actually gonna do anything, or was that it?
There’s implied flirtation with Taelia, but between that, his reaction to seeing Females in the Cata novel, and the voice work for his characterization in Heroes of the Storm it’s obvious he just stutters and gets nervous around women in general.
Yeah, I do think they really dropped the ball on showing him stepping up to his Father’s place.
He’s not a front-line leader, he’s not a General, but he is a Priest, and a King. He should be visiting the wounded, listening to their stories, healing those that he can and has the time and energy for. He should be touring the city, under guard if necessary, but definitely out and about where possible. Helping the refugees from Teldrassil, that kind of stuff.
I really wish Blizzard would dedicate a team to putting in small things like that. Don’t have to be big or fancy, but every few updates or so you can get a random chance to see a Faction Leader interacting with the World. Something to really increase immersion and actually make it feel like a World.
Yeah for real. I am a big fan of gentle leader types like they’re obviously building him up to be, especially when they’re men because there just aren’t enough gentle male leader characters in fiction in general, even though plenty of them exist in the real world and make very effective leaders. I was excited to see how he would lead the Alliance.
But then he just kinda, hasn’t really done anything. What a huge letdown. I’d love to see him out and about doing stuff like you said.
