Where'd the socialization go?

Try talking in general chat in any of the TWW zones.
Sorry but this idea of “folks are so quiet in non-endgame zones” has been around since roughly TBC. More pronounced now’a’days, but that’s the difference between WoW’s lifetime being a couple of years … versus twenty.

Just get to max level and start talking in the general and trade chat yourself - ain’t no one who needs to do it for you.

Just because you say stuff that’s against ToS and folks report you for it doesn’t make it so others end up doing the same thing as you. Just saying.

Discord Servers. Strangers on the internet can be jerks. Why risk talking to people you haven’t vetted on a social level, when you can hang out with all your friends on Discord?

The problem, is that people are jerks and we collectively decided that they are toxic and not worth dealing with. It always has been, and it’s pretty interesting how people simply aren’t willing to acknowledge this.

All the socialization is in private Discords and Guild Chats.

You can thank tryhards and racist/sexist chat trolls for that.

It’s still there, most people just choose to ignore it because it’s difficult.

I’ve met tons of people in keys, arena, bgs, even just collecting achievements so put yourself out there anywhere and you can make frens. :dracthyr_love_animated:

You can solve this by reporting people rather than accepting their presence. Accepting the presence of racists and/or sexists create an environment where such things aren’t merely just allowed, but expected.

So the way you solve this is by reporting folks who say those things.

people have collectively chosen to solve this by simply not dealing with them at all, and migrating to socialization options that those types of people can be actively excluded from. :dracthyr_shrug: :dracthyr_shrug: :dracthyr_shrug:

Also all the reporting is also why people don’t chat in the game.

Don’t say reportable stuff then. It ain’t difficult.

Because “socialization” is now done through discord. It’s like smartphones and the internet just being a common everyday thing now… You probably saw being able to connect with anyone in the world back in 2004 as some cool amazing thing… but that’s just normal now.

Times change old man.

Which is now everything, hence why nobody talks.

it’s very easy to avoid being reported. Just don’t be a jerk.

it’s not rocket surgery. :dracthyr_shrug: :dracthyr_shrug: :dracthyr_shrug:

You also have way more freedom in what you say on discord.

Good to know, doesn’t change the fact people aren’t talking in chat because of it.

It’s always funny seeing people complaining about getting reported. If we saw through their chat logs we would know it was 100% justified.

Okay, still reported you. You were being rude and I was offended.

And people like you always create this imaginary person which you are roleplaying as right now. it’s always the exact same every time.

Cool beans, still got reported.

if you can’t talk in chat without being enough of a jerk that you get reported, it’s a skill issue, tbh.

for the most part, yeah.

Amazing information, doesn’t change the fact that is why people don’t talk in the game.

I always say hello when I join a dungeon group. It’s the right thing to do.
