I know this seems like a foolish question but I’m just curious what people have to say. I am a level 50 Fire Mage (just hit 50 last week!) and I have no quests in my log. Where are some places that are good to level up? I’ve done most of Badlands (except Uldaman), and all of Thousand Needles/Tanaris. Should I check out Feralas?
I’d level in AV soon as I can.
Is AV where you battle other players? I have no clue how to do that, lol I’ve never PVP’d before And with crappy gear I’d probably get my butt kicked. I was looking maybe for areas to quest in, where I don’t need to worry about PVP/dungeons/raiding. I prefer to play solo.
Searing Gorge?
As Alliance that best in slot off hand is your birth right. Just have to go through torment to get it… But yes it is the zone where you fight horde.
You’re on a PVE server so that’s obviously not a concern.
Ungoro Crater, Felwood, Searing Gorge, Blasted Lands.
There are guides out there that will tell you.
I suggest getting a quest addon, like questie as an example. It shows you available quests on the map for your level.
But right now you should probably be questing around Ungoro/Tanaris/Silithis/Felwood/Wintersprings on kalimdor. Or Searing Gorge/Burning Steppe/WPL/EPL on Eastern Kingdom.
There are some interesting mage-centric leveling spots that really highlight the AoE abilities. You’ve mentioned you are a firemage, but unlike people who insist on being Ret paladins, for example, I will assume you are flexible and would just like to play your class in its optimal spec, depending on the content.
ZF zombie farming is quite viable solo from 44 to 52 (I’ve heard from 42, but in my opinion, it’s too difficult to learn if you’ve never done it, with the aggro range at 42). Mara is also good in this level range.
From 50+, you can check out Dalson’s Tears Farm in WPL, though open world AoE grinding spots tend to have others to compete with…
52 to 56 I think Gor’Shak farming is your best bet, but this requires grouping. From 56, DM:E solo farming becomes viable, and a decent way to level while making gold.
There are some good guides on YouTube, and as a mage, imo it’s quite worthwhile learning some of these “Mage AoE 101” type strats.
Sounds like you may have failed to pick up some of the cracker crumb quests. If you don’t already use it, I suggest you download the addon questie and turn on all quests to see what you’ve missed.
I’ll tell you a dark secret OP. Deep in the Alterac Valley, there is a place called “the Harpy Cave”. It contains… harpies. Easy to kill mobs which give you XP, albeit at a slow rate. However, you will passively accumulate reputation from the actions of your comrades at the front lines. Thus, by slowly levelling, you will get closer and closer to those cherished off-hands.
Some say levelling in the harpy cave is… immoral. Some say it’s the META. I have given you the knowledge. It’s up to you to choose how to use it.
spec into frost and aoe farm, buy 100% mount instantly at 60
I haven’t had a high level alliance character yet, but I’m going to assume that their questing zones are similar to those of horde at this level. You could do Hinterlands, Un’goro (although there will be several orange difficult quests if you go at 50 instead of like 53ish), Feralas (should be a cake walk at level 50), Searing Gorge, and Felwood (I really like Felwood despite many players saying its bad).
Or, being blessed with mage abilities, you could do AOE farming like some have suggested already. However, I find that to be boring no matter how effecient it is…maybe I’m just jealous that I can’t aoe farm lol
WPL and EPL.
Edit: Probably more appropriate for 55+.
EPL is too high for a lvl 50
Yeah, I realized that as soon as I posted.
Un’goro is where I leveled my Classic char at 50 and suggest anyone go to. Especially if you are a herbalist or skinner
Searing Gorge for sure if you have not been yet. Azshara is great as it’s mid 40s to mid 50s. There a bunch of high 40s quests in Blasted Lands., too. Once you’ve gained a couple of levels, you can start exploring Un’Goro, Felwood, and Western Plaguelands (to a limited extent as mobs there start at 51 or 52).
That’s funny you both suggest AOE farming. I’ve been watching some videos on YouTube for the last couple hours and this is definitely something I’d like to work on. I’m horrible when it comes to my AOE skills. Sure, it’s easy on low-level mobs, but I usually have a hard time taking down just one mob at a time, let alone 10 of them.
It can be really frustrating for a while. It does take some time to get used to. Watching videos definitely helps, but nothing beats practice. I started practicing ZF zombie farming at level 42, and spent probably 5 or 6 hours on it, before I decided to just go level up to 44 and try again.
Certainly the 5 or 6 hours of practice helped, but the 2 levels and decrease in aggro range was of significant benefit.
And then the next few hours really made up for it, because it was a lot of XP/hour.
I like the Western Plaguelands.
