Where the Hell are the Zandalari?

So, let me get this straight, in 8.2.5 the faction war ends and the Zandalari, who lost their prized navy as well as their king to the war, have absolutely nothing to say about it? Not only does Jaina get extra closure with her brother, other Kul’tirans comment on the war’s end.

Yet the Zandalari say nothing following the end of the war campaign. Talanji lost her father to Jaina and it seemed as though she would bear a grudge against her, yet there is no mention of this. I would even understand if Talanji would put aside her desire of vengeance for the good of the Zandalari people who have already been through quite alot, but the fact that NOTHING has been said about the end of the war on Zandalar by any of the characters seems like a gigantic oversight by the dev team.

It was always obvious to me that Jaina and Kul’tiras would be more important to the lore considering Jaina got both a comic and an animated Warbringer short dedicated to her, but that is no excuse to leave the Zandalari hanging, its bad enough that the plot-thread of Talanji having to shoulder the burden of being bound to Bwomsadi has been put to the side after the Zandalari allied race quest chain, but now they don’t even take part in the post-war Horde dialogue when literally every single other character seems to have something to say about how things turned out?

This is unacceptable Blizzard. At least hotfix in some on-click dialogue so we can see the Zandalari’s perspective on the events of 8.2.5, you owe them at least that much.

I agree, Talanji is one of my favorite new characters. When she ascended the throne she even put the Lich Queen in her place, I screamed with joy. She is strong, smart, and generally good natured. I can easily see her taking a stand to Jaina and Anduin in the up coming peace talks, she might even take a leading roll in the Future of the Horde (Warchief?)

So yah, we totally need her reactions.

Zandalari: Sees the warchief they pledged loyalty to immediately get ousted, resulting in the rest of the Horde becoming subservient to the faction that invaded the Zandalari capital and butchered their king.

Zandalari: Reconsidering their loyalty to the Horde. “This was a mistake.”

The entire first half of BFA seemed to have serve as a character arc for Jaina, which I mean I get it, she’s an OG character and shes been around since WC3.

But this highlights a huge problem with Blizzard. When they make new characters, like Talanji, they get a spotlight then they get abandoned and only brought up again when the story is relevant.

Zandalari and Talanji served merely as a plot device this expansion. It’s very clear they wanted Jainas character progression to take priority.

I like Sylvanas, but Talanji insisting that the Zandalari and the Horde are in an equal partnership won her some points in my eyes, especially when most of her questing appearances up to that point were pretty standard.

Also, even if you don’t particularly care for Talanji and the Zandalari personally, there are people that do, and those fans deserve some closure to a story they became invested in.

Talanji pledged to be equal to the Horde and allied to it. Not Subservient.

They are with the Loa of ignorance

Horde side it was Talanji’s Arc, not Jaina’s. Horde players don’t see Jaina until the Raid.

Just a note: I’d rather faction baiting be kept to a minimum in this thread. This isn’t about Horde vs. Alliance, or how the faction war turned out. It’s about the fact that one of the major plot-lines in the expansion is being ignored for seemingly no reason.

This made me laugh thinking about it today:

The way it all went down, it almost looks like Talanji is a political mastermind who used the Horde to destroy her political rivals, make her look like a hero to her people for dealing with the Blood Trolls, and draw in the Alliance to kill her 200-year-old father so that she could take the throne.

And now that her mission is accomplished, its like she doesn’t need the Horde anymore, and is content to return the Zandalari to their isolation.

because the graphic artists didn’t put them in. Devoid of faction for you lol.

Like the DH intro movie. Its all night elves near as I can tell…

Maybe some deeper meaning or like the BE DH’s…the GA’s and writers for this part overlooked them.

As yeah they should be there. Bwonsamdi wants the banshee too. I am sure he’d like to have been there popcorn ready in case she died.

Humans, Orcs, and Forsaken are the only ones who get developed. Everyone else gets massacred or used as a prop then massacred.

Blizzard writing is pretty garbage for the main storylines.

Only one tink i kill raztakan not Jaina.

I’m afraid given Blizzards style, we’re not gonna see Talanji, until Vol’jin comes back from The Shadowlands, and tells us all the bad stuff going on there.

Then Talanji will be in that storyline, and the whole BFA thing might as well not exist.

It shouldn’t be too hard to put in some dialogue for the Zandalari. All it takes is an hour a writer’s time to come up with some dialogue, and then another hour or two to implement it. Scripting speech bubbles or an on-click quote can’t be that difficult.

they were filler story arc. Forget about them like forgot about taunka and ogres.

I didn’t say they were subservient. Just that they pledged loyalty to it. You can pledge loyalty to an allied nation. Of course, now that the Horde has largely agreed to no longer engage in military operations against the Alliance and thus leave Dazar’alor unavenged, I’m sure the Zandalari are starting to chafe a bit under that “loyalty” they promised.

Technically it was a Mutual defense Pact, it assumes mutual loyalty. By not aknowledging that it was a two way street it implies that the Zandalari are under the Horde, which is not what Talanji agreed to, she joined as Equals in the Horde, which implies Mutual loyalty to both parties. Meanwhile the other Allied racial leaders are kicking themselves over what she said, because she basically made the Zandalri more important to the Horde than the other Allied Races who swore loyalty to Sylvanas and the Horde. p.s. besides Pandaren (who individually pledge allegiance to the Horde) The older races joined the Horde under the banner of being protected, ie Mutual defense Pacts. Thrall was big on Equality in the Horde.

Yep, I loved the zone quest storylines this expansion. Nazmir is my favorite zone in ages. With my own personal headcannon for Treez, a Darkspear Troll, I felt solidarity with the Zandalari.

The fact that Talanji helped reconnect us with Vol’jins spirit was a major factor in my decision to side with Baine and Saurfang.

Not to mention that unlocking the Zandalari as an allied Race was one of the most satisying things ive done the entire expansion.

I might just retire Treez on that island. Depending on how some things work out in 8.3.
