Hey guys I’m kind of confused, by chance is Undermine actually located near Khaz Algar? I’m assuming it’s elsewhere in the world but just attached to the map of Khaz Algar for expansion technicality.
dont know but one of the rockets is connected to the bfa zone for the trolls that small island off a bit from zandalar trolls capital
Thanks. Yeah, reason I ask is because it kind of confuses me storywise. Since Khaz Algar was hidden until we found it (I think) and of course, I don’t expect the goblins built this city here in the short time since we arrived. Plus, the way they speak about it like it’s been around for a very long time as the goblin main capital sort of (I don’t know much of goblin lore) but I don’t really see how it could be both that and attached to Khaz Algar.
So just trying to piece together the appropriate context so I can enjoy the new story lol.
Goblins knew about Khaz Algar way before we arrived there. Looks like they’ve been there for a while drilling
Oooooh, so they already knew where it was before TWW? By chance do you know why we didn’t ask Gazlowe or someone else to lead us there and instead took the Dalaran route? Apologies, genuinely curious cause I actually do enjoy the lore of the game and just making sense of the stuff I don’t understand.
Undermine has lorewise been a thing since vanilla. They didn’t just build it. I think canonically it’s beneath the former Bildgewater home island and current exploding volcano Kezan.
Anyone know where that giant hole goes with the giant mother battle in the background in the entrance area to undermine? It ports you out if you try to go in.
Oh okay, so we’re around the original Goblin Starting zone area? Then the goblins in Undermine (supposedly Gallywix) built an underground tunnel to Khaz Algar from Undermine to mine black blood for Xalatath?
Because Gazlowe was working a side hustle.
I can’t answer that but if I had to guess by context clues I would say goblins discovered the black blood during or before the events of BfA when Sylvannas asked the goblins to start drilling for Azerite
Undermine was largely seperate from Kaz Algar historical until the mining operation breached the wall to Ringing Deeps. What exactly the goblins knew about the greater area before the Dalaran expeditions efforts is impossible to know. But they did have small operations in Ringing Deep and Azj Kahet.
However, they presumably had no access to the coreway and so no access to the objective of the Dalaran expedition ( the Coreway and through it the world soul)
Thanks, I’m starting to get it I think. Basically context clues seemingly point to the idea that Gallywix after BFA took over Undermine (which is located near Kazan underground?) and from there was also probably already communicating with Xalatath. Once Khaz Algar was discovered (via Dalaran), Xalatath went to Undermine and told Gallywix to build a tunnel (which he did quickly by strong arming the cartels) and start mining Black Blood.
They had time to do this because we were likely busy and distracted with the Nerubians at the beginning of the expansion, and are now playing catch up.
It’s located beneath the island of Kezan. Bilgewater Harbour/Port/City was just on one coast of the island.
The website is a little outdated now but it’s basically all we knew until this patch.
Thanks a lot, everything is starting to make sense now thanks to your guys help. Now I can appropriately enjoy the new patch story chaps without being confused. I know most people don’t care about the lore in the game, but I’ve always fairly enjoyed it (except many aspects of Shadowlands) and try to pay attention. Legit had no idea how the goblins or Undermine had any relation to Khaz Algar so this helps.
Yeah it’s underneath Kezan. I can’t believe no one knows that.
No before or during the events of BfA Gallywix discovered black blood while digging for Azerite. Xala’tath didn’t come into the picture until recently because she needed the dark heart fixed.
If you talk to one of the attendants at Slam Central Station in the Undermine, they mention how their rocket would take you to another portion of the city, and that the zone we got is just the downtown core of the city. We didn’t even get the full city
Even if the cartels had direct access to the coreway, traveling to Isle of Dorn (as directed by The Radient Song. Presumably Azeroth) and going through the earthen would still be preferable.
One day in Undermine should make it pretty clear that getting these mean little people to cooperate, even in their own best interests, is more trouble than it’s worth.
Oh wow, all the way back then? The cinematic made me think they were working together awhile cause of the familiarity they sort of had with one another. However, that was probably just my interpretation. Thanks for the information! I’ll probably read more on Undermine’s history too on the wiki to catch up. I guess my main confusion came from its position on the map in Khaz Algar and how long the goblins have been there for.
So definitely know more about that now thankfully.
Yes, they bored a very long tunnel underground using their drill machines. The intro quest shows that they bored just to the east of the Ringing Deeps, but wanted to remain hidden and not bore all the way into the main cavern, until a rogue worker knocked down the wall to the Ringing Deeps proper to try and get help.
They also bored a long tunnel to Zuldazar, the BFA zone. It hasn’t been explicitly shown, but they likely have a tunnel system that goes to (or near) places we’ve already been that have goblin settlements, like Tanaris or Winterspring, maybe even somewhere near Blackrock Mountain.
