Where is this wave of diva tanks coming from?

I wont even take anything from you anyways. You’re badness might be contagious

EDIT: btw still waiting on that video

again…carebear content players thinking any of this matters. its dungeons ffs. its the lowest of the skill content why you argueing about who pulls? theres no skill involved. just round em up and aoe them down. like calf roping. get some loot

Funny story today,

did Freehold with a leveling group today with my ele shaman alt. Now i know not everyone remembers every mechanic, even I forget and BFA was a while ago, but before fighting the Captains boss, I tell the party we need to drink up from the Bildgerat NPCs so we get a buff and not have to fight all 3 captains or we will likely wipe.

Healer druid tells me the tank druid hasnt been using ironfur or enraged regen (whatever its called) or any defensives really all dungeon and has been going low hp on trash mobs (we wiped once on the first boss too). Now I know the scaling is a bit off but having done quite a few dungeons, tanks hadnt been dying this fast.

So I make sure to tell the group to get their drinks from the green NPCs. I do it, healer does it and one other dps does it. Other DPS and Tank, dead silence. Tank charges the boss before were ready, gets killed, group is wiped.

I say, “Alright no problem, just take your time and get your buff first.” Rest of the group gets to it, even the last dps. But the Tank? Nope, makes a B line straight for the 3 captains again and dies, alone not waiting for anyone. It was like watching someone run head first into a wall, so kind of funny, but also confusing as to why. Tank then proceeds to leave without a word.

Not a big deal but not something I see happen commonly. Been a few tanks who behaved like this who seem to be very new to their class/spec. I can understand that as its leveling dungeon, but if you have people provide you with free info to help you out (mechanics or which abilities to use (if you have them), some communication can go a long way.

Are you new here? That’s been WoW’s tanking etiquette for over 18 years now. You know whose mentality that I quoted also has been for over the last 18 years? Bad DPS.

I can’t tell if serious.
I mean, you do you. Not sure why making your life and the life of your group harder is a flex.

learning issue here.

I did that when I started wow 10 years ago. I did what I want and left cause of embarrassment if I failed. Every tank does this. Any tank that denies this is straight-up lying.

Thank you for being nice DPS and teaching them the ropes. I am sure he is going to be careful on his next reque to save face.

Because using crutch add-ons denies you the chance to become a good tank, and sets you up for total failure if those crutches ever break.

New content comes out, and optimal routes are not openly posted/figured out yet. While some totally reliant on addons tank flails about, I iterate my path over a few runs, and settle onto an optimal route.

First run where I prioritize making sure I have enough percentage, and figuring out how much each mob is worth.

Second run where I try shaving off.

By the third run, I’ve usually got a route that is 1-3% over, optimizing for smooth guaranteed routes, instead of ones that some random can screw up by butt pulling during some thread the needle skip.

You can still mark your handmade route on MDT and share it. Crutch and convenience aren’t the same thing.

This is modern tanking in a nutshell. We need to let go of the old days where the tank doing the initial pull, and then DPS waiting for us to throw some sunders or cleaves. If someone pulls for you nowadays, just charge on in and hit Thunderclap, Demo shout etc. Can you tell I play Prot Warrior?

It hasn’t been relevant for almost a decade.

The only tanks that follow this rule are objectively bad

It really isn’t current etiquette. It is something that has carried over from the early days, but it’s just not required nowadays. So much easier to grab the aggro back.

I don’t know why this is so hard for some people to understand this

Willful ignorance I guess

Not for a random pug DPS. This would imply he has been doing this in all the games. For a friend yes, we always let our friends flex.

Eh thats what you have to do, suggest something that might be against their agenda.

Either be nice or play tank.

Sounds like griefing tbh

A few opinions on this.
Season 1, with prideful, if it’s not on the pull route where prideful needs to be. Go die with your adds amigo.
In general, people pull things on accident, it’s not a big deal, I grab it, and we kill it, and the keys move on. If somebody just keeps pulling stuff to grief the key or whatever, then no I’m just gonna stand by and let you die. If the key bricks oh noes.
The only real thing I think about it though, is bring adds to the damned tank. Gambit, I’ve had more then a few ranged tab target a pack, and then sprint for the dungeon entrance, and drag the process of getting aggro out, rather then stacking on me or kiting around me.

People dont know how to multi-task :person_shrugging: can’t blame them if they’re bad at it ( well we can but people who dont want to gitgud will always be bottom tier)

Please stop. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Intentionally letting your group die is the definition of griefing
