We are the unloved and unwanted. As a Tauren Shaman I feel this doubly so. But I hope we get some kind of customization.

While that would be cool, I have been a Tauren for so long I don’t think I could change it. I even entertained the thought of race changing to Vulpira but just couldn’t do it.

Tauren are wonderful, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
But you are absolutely right, they severely lack customization options, hopefully that will change come Shadowlands.

I wish they were more hardened like in Warcraft 3. When those packs of Tauren came stomping around, you knew they were going to mess up someone’s world. And Cairne was all sorts of awesome – one of my favorite singleplayer heroes.
I never really thought of changing races either. If anything the next character might be a Highmountain Tauren.
*Though Orcs are equally as awesome.

It breaks my heart whenever I see one. 
Id just like to see them fix the Tauren male melee animations, or the Tauren female clipping problems before they add customization that no one can see
All Tauren now have optional customizable udders! Enjoy.
Blizzard has never really cared about tauren. The only exception is stupid Baine. Every other tauren is completely ignored.
I’ve said from the first datamine that tauren will be the last to get customization, if we get any at all.

There’s a tauren in Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar, wearing tauren heritage, and better yet, he has black fur and red Grimtotem tattoos. His name is something like Torkhan (I think that’s some sort of reference, if it is and you know tell me). I have my hopes up for that.
I have a feeling tauren will get their customization later because of these. Taunka and yaungol both have old models that need an update and weird faces. I’m hoping for both of those aswell, especially taunka since they’re already in the Horde.

The flat, nearly 2D faces on both of those tauren variants always creeped me out. If they become customization options I hope that gets fixed.
Really holding out hope, that when the new Tauren customization is added, that they update the shaman totems as well.
Tauren still use the classic model for totems compared to all races being Cataclysm and onward.
I am suspicious that they might skip Tauren for the first wave of new customization options. Character customization updates seems to be an area where they are making cuts in order to get Shadowlands done in time.
They’ve even said that the pre-patch isn’t the only Shadowlands patch that will add new customization options, so they probably are preparing for the possibility of missing deadlines for character customization.
It certainly wouldn’t be the first time they put character customization updates on the back burner, as they did that in both WoD and BfA already. With the latter, new customization options were shelved in favor of Allied Races.
