like the title says, the new animations have no soul and are kind of boring, I knew there was an option to use old animations but I can’t seems to find it.
Anyone can help me with this?

There was never an option to use old animations. There was an option to use the old models, which was removed when DHs and new animations were added.

Because retail got updated and they rehashed stuff like they always do.
I don’t know why people expect Blizzard to hold onto old models, old animations, etc forever. They got introduced, and there was basically a phase out period where they let people toggle between them, but now they use all the new models and animations for everything. Expecting them to manage old models/animations for everything they are making these days is pretty silly.
It happens in a 17+ year old game.
Yes, sure but old models and animations had differences based on races which some of them were more epic and cool than the others but now everything look the same and that same animations are ugly, boring and dull.
I just want my old orc or troll casting animations where it look like you’re doing a kamehameha or something. Now it looks like I’m lifting an invisible weight then throw a spaghetti ball, feels sad to come back to the game to this…

This is very specific reason for the game to feel that way…but…animations and models, spell effects, etc. get updated every expansion. Having to maintain all of old stuff on top of it, with ‘switches’ to go back and forth is just asking for bugginess in an already buggy game.

I don’t entirely disagree, some stuff is cool, some stuff looks crap. One thing I really hated on my shaman was the frost shock talent ability that lets frost shock deal 400% damage and my troll just swipes when casting it which I feel looks like garbage. It’s all opinions though.
I really don’t expect this kind of thing to be very open to debate in terms Blizzard considering to manage multiple sets of animations and models.
The OP never said how long he’d been back for. Chances are he played when the new models came out, used the old ones, and has came back rather recently.
The old animations have been gone since Legion. He’s level 60. He’s got achievs from September and January last year.
Maybe he was playing a class he didn’t care about the animations, maybe he was playing very casually so he didn’t care, but is now getting back into it. I mean even if the answer was he’s never stopped playing and he really is just that unobservant I’m really not sure what that answer would add to the discussion anyways.

Well, tbf, spell animations themselves I don’t particularly mind, sure I’d rather have the old chaos bolt and the old lightning bolt but hey, over all, I get it. And like, ok some of the characters look more polished but the thing that really bothers me alot are the weird cast animations and attack animations that are just ridicule and feel like you’re hitting less harder than you actually should.
Like, I play shamans and the lava burst casting animation where you just lift your arms in the air to throw a lava burst look SOO ridiculously absurd and I guess I never noticed back then but now everytime I cast it, I can’t not see it. Why? And the thing that opened my mind is the coin of many faces toy where it transformed me into a troll but the old old models and GOD it was beautiful to look at. WAY more than what it currently look like casting spells.
I just want my old character models and attack animations, as goofy as they may look. I’m just sad they replaced it with the same model for everyone instead of polishing the ones we already had.
Maybe I’m just getting crazy over stupid stuff but it really feels like I was hitting harder with the old troll animations because it looked better than the new ones.
