What if we were able to learn other racial languages? Can it really be that difficult to learn how to speak Orcish?
Ok, yes, I hear the heavy RP people going “No, the last of what little RP we have!”, but I’m sure both of you will get over it.

Yeah I don’t know why that isn’t implemented… Could be something scribes could do, language books or something. There’s already a small ability for Void Elves and Blood Elves to communicate, or Demon Hunters I believe too through Demonic?
No reason not to allow people at a max level to unlock languages.
Also doesn’t make sense as much as we fought side by side (and see our races communicate fine in cinematics) that we can’t speak to each other…

You can buy Elixer of Tongues (added due to Roleplaying) to understand what the other faction is saying. They can do the same thing.
Years ago, there was a translation addon called Tongues that allowed you to understand and speak in every language in the game. I don’t know if it is still available or not.

Elixir of Tongues only works for Common and Orcish.
The Tongues addon has been limping along for a long time, but it’s been a non-current legacy addon with no current development for so long it’s buggy and hardly anyone uses it anymore. It also only works with languages in your own faction, and if the other person is also using it.
I’ll admit that as a Roleplayer, I’m a bit miffed that my characters can’t understand all the in-game languages that they’re supposed to be able to understand. But I guess Mages would get huffy about one of their traditional class perks being less unique, or something.
With the current on-going Classic discussions, I thought this thread(based on the title) was going to be about learning Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish lol.
It would be interesting if they let you actually learn other languages. Perhaps limited though to what you can learn.
In Everquest you could learn other races languages. Use to have groups just sitting around a bank with macros spamming a set text in one of the languages they had maxxed
I really dont get my Orcs can’t speak Taur-ahe or Troll, or why humans cant understand dwarvish or gnomish in game.
