The patch is long overdue for ptr testing. For scheduling reasons it is expected to go live on May 28 (Mother 77 cycles). Normally the next patch goes on the PTR soon after the prior patch releases on live servers. Even the shîtty 8.1.5 which had no content needed 3 months of ptr testing. 8.2 is supposed to be one of the largest content patches ever. It brings 2 new zones, a raid, a megadungeon, a new type of open world experience with world quest chains and world events, a complete reboot of this expansions Azerite endgame progression system which brings new active abilities, and a new follower system.
So where is it?
There are two possibilities: 1) Blizzard is WAY BEHIND in development and they can’t keep Mother’s 77 cycles reference; patch won’t come until late June or July.
- They deprive us of ptr testing because they don’t want us to know about certain features; Perhaps neck levels will become irrelevant and they don’t want us to stop farming yet.
Anyway, this means one of two things for us: Either the patch will be long delayed, or it comes in May and will be buggy as hell.
The BFA prepatch had 6 months of testing and was still horribly bugged. Given that 8.2 is like half an expansion’s worth of content, it needs 3 months of PTR testing at a minimum!
The Mother reference is an inside joke.
As for the patch, expect it to hit the PTR before the end of the month.

Yea the Mother reference is referring to the fact that during Legion, a lot of the patches were released every 77 days.

For me patch 8.2 is the make or break patch for this expansion.
I’d rather they delay it some and get it right and fix many of the issues that have plagued this expansion so far than release something that is as unfinished, buggy, and lackluster as much of the content has been so far this expansion.

Yeah I got kinda excited when I saw Wowhead post on Twitter that 8.2 had hit the ptr, forgetting it was April Fools, then went to the site and it confirmed it was in fact a joke. /sadface

I cannot lie in saying i’m desperate for 8.2 content. This is suppose to be BFAs big patch, new zones, new dungeons, raid, and reworks to azerite.
8.2 is going to determine where this expansion sits in peoples minds by time its over.

At first, thought this was more Ion Public Relation BS…then as I read it I see he is being pretty candid of this clusterflock of an expansion. I am hopeful for the first time since last Fall. Hope the next expac comes as soon as it can.
