Where is our Season of Mastery 2? The time is now

So, SOM 1 was a huge flop but not because it wasn’t amazing. It’s release was just poorly timed.

We had just spent 2 and a half years in classic when Blizzard released TBC in June 2021.

In Nov 2021, they released Season of mastery but who wanted to go back to classic so soon especially when we were in the beginning phases of TBC?

I remember thinking “hell no I aint going back to classic, I just left there”

Well fast forward 2 years, TBC is done, WOTLK is mostly done and retail is pretty much done too.

Now is the time to release SOM 2. It would not be like SOM 1. It would be hugely popular.

Who’s to say it would be called Season of Mastery 2? Why not Season of Balance? Or Season of War? Idk. We had a season dedicated to mastering raid mechanics, let’s see something new!

So I’m looking at all these changes in SOM… changes I didn’t bother to even look at cause I was enjoying my time in TBC and wow… SOM would have just been incredible to play. Literally everything I disliked about WoW no changes was fixed in SOM.

I really wish blizzard would give us another one. Its been 2 years since the last one

Even the outside of raid changes were amazing and i wish they were all in classic era. The only problem with SoM 1 was the time it was released which sucks.

Exactly. I mean… we had literally just spent 2+ years in classic. We finally get TBC and 5 months later they relaunched classic? Who actually wanted to go back to classic so quickly? Well now I’m ready to return to classic and I’m finally looking at what SOM was and wow, it would have been amazing

Yeah they gave us hardcore instead, now it’s dying fast.

I would wait for BlizzCon. If there are going to be announcements around this, it will be then. There’s a lot of speculation that we might see an announcement, or potentially even Classic+.

I’m not holding my breath but if they’re not doing Classic+ I’m super looking forward to SoM2. I wasn’t able to participate in the first one (not even for TBC related reasons) and I really wanted to!

If all we get outta BlizzCon is Cata, I will renew my advocacy

Hardcore is doing exactly what I expected it to do… experiencing a huge way of popularity for everybody, but then thinning out as the people who truly love hardcore are separated from those who just wanted a fresh server.

The end result is a net positive though. People get a hardcore server to play on (and it’s much more fun than I thought it would be) and Era is getting a surge in popularity as people who die off in hardcore transfer over and continue their journey.

From my perspective, Hardcore was a huge win. I also really enjoyed that video they put out on death statistics. Not surprising but thoroughly enjoyable!
