They just undercover just deleted the talent. I’m genuinely curious if it is really that hard for the developers to design and implement cool talents. There is so much room on demo tree of they removed so many of the boring filler talents.
Maybe they’ll give it another try in whatever the talent system for Midnight is.
It’s very unlikely that Demonology will receive another significant talent rework during The War Within.
I’m personally stoked that it’s gone. I’d rather the doom talents that have replaced it any day.
The gameplay loop of turreting and spamming single-shard hands of Gul’dan was demo ramping at its worst.
The idea was cool, but I feel like there’s just better directions to drive the spec.
Not saying that I want that garbage back. Just looking for the “promised” rework of a talent that has a lot of untapped potential. But honestly not holding my breath. These game designers couldn’t get things right anyway.
They said they might ‘revisit it in the future’, so, I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon.
Likely, that would happen Midnight or The Last Titan or, even, sometime after the World Soul Saga.
At this point, it’s probable that any Nether Portal rework is more of a ‘maybe’.
Let it RIP. Arguably one of the most controversial talents in the game. They tried (although it didn’t seem very hard) but I don’t think the current iteration of WoW is ready for a design like Nether Portal.
The countless solutions offered towards it seemed very obvious but perhaps we are missing underlying detail as to why they couldn’t make it work. They’ll release a Q&A about it someday.
You’re the only one who liked it.
I liked the idea. Obviously the execution and gameplay was not where it needed to be. Oh well.
I can assume they are first going to see how demo performs at the start of TWW, then modify nether portal to better fit what we got.
Because man after playing with the hero talents on beta warlock sure feels different. In a good way.
I do hope though that nether portal could be a form of consistent DPS like the doomed bidding talent for unholy DK.
Like what if it was a passive where consuming demon core procs has a chance to crack open a nether portal that spews more demons based on soul shards spent or whatnot
I’m fine with it going away honestly. If it comes back I hope it isn’t the entire backbone of our DPS on a 3 minute cooldown, I definitely did not like that. Peaking at amazing damage when you didn’t have to move in your opener then doing tank damage for the next 3 minutes doesn’t feel great.
Nope let that talent stay in the void. Amazing fantasy behind it, but if they can’t figure out how to not makes us sit turret style to get the most of our CDs. Don’t ever let it come back.
One of the worst ideas for a game marred with constant move mechanics/interrupts.
Not to include that current demo has to still currently sit there for like 8 plus secs to get a really good tyrant much less get reliably a 15 imp set up.
It seems that the dev team mindset for the warlock class is to cast as much as possible, meanwhile they keep designing the game’s atmosphere with as much as mechanics/movement as the player base can stomach.
It’s getting to the point that the mythic+ community has been raising concerns about their design ethos for this mess. Devs: “Hey we removed these affixes” butttt … they added a mess of others things that are just as annoying or even unavoidable. Thanks for ??
