Where is my Playable Night Elf Shaman?

I can’t do the starting quest for K’aresh because I haven’t even accepted the starting quest for The War Within. But I was able to sneak through the mythic+ portal room to get to Tazavesh on K’aresh. And I was able to fly over to Umbric and discovered that his side quest was accessible without any prerequisites. So I was able to do the questchain that leads to Void Elves getting access to the Demon Hunter class.

Which leads me to ask, what’s the hold up on a Blizzard graphics designer to make Night Elf Shaman totems?

Because we already have two questchains for Night Elf Shaman giving us all of these NPCs on Amirdrassil at this very moment:

Gimme my Night Elf Shaman. Also red skin tone customization. Thank you.

I don’t like Shamans for night elves but with Haronir on their way as Druids and Shamans it’s only a matter of time before that happens.

Hate adding race class combos, it was better when only 3 races could be shamans not everyone and anyone.

I’m on team give everyone everything. If someone wants their character to be a gnome demon hunter, let them.

I think it’s going to be the same thing where earthen got shaman even though their nature magic people are basically druids. So looks like a shaman, is actually a druid.

At least until they make shaman and druid universal.

Can we get this carred red skin from Druid of the Flame as customization for Night Elves please? :dracthyr_yay_animated:

Shaman really does feel like something Night Elves should have gotten a long time ago. Their whole thing is preserving the balance of nature and the elements play a very important role in nature.

I don’t mind that. A playable Night Elf throwing around Lava Bolts could obviously be seen as a Druid of the Flame. And the latter three non-red skinned Night Elves I linked that were former Primalists were Druids of the Talon before joining the Titan-hating Shaman club.

Druids of the Talon have always had kits that were based on winds and storms that none of the playable Druid specs focus on, and resemble more what playable Shamans are.

And the Night Elves finally got back their Ancients of Wind from Warcraft III walking around Amirdrassil, too, now, for that matter:

I imagine any lore for the remaining unplayable Shaman races is goining to be that they are former Primalists who follow the Vyranoth.

I have absolutely no idea why this has not happened yet, ngl

it’s not a class/race combo I’m personally invested in at all, but I’m hard pressed to think of a combination that makes as much sense and hasn’t happened yet.

Wowhead now has screenshots up for the three non-Druids of the Flame Night Elf Shamans I linked in the original post.

To be clear I meant more like it stays the druid class, not that they’d use it as a basis to add shaman. That’s roughly how it feels with the earthen where their shamans are more obviously druidy but also they still gave them shaman instead.

I’m not sure I expect either class to be expanded soon.

Quite frankly the only alliance races that make sense for the class are Dark Irons and Kul Tirans. Or Broken.

Interestingly the Void elf demon hunter race class combo is unlocked by a questline. That’s a first right?

Questlines to introduce and unlock some of the remaining race class combos would be interesting.

  • Night Elves channeling Elements through the affinity of Wild Gods as Druids of the Flame + ex Primalist cultists now called Druids of the Primal or something
  • SW and Strom and otherwise learn shamanistic arts from Kul Tirans and Harvest Witches (reveal Harvest Witches always had shamanism, that KT Thornspeakers combine Gilnean witch diaspora with Drust Vrylul practices)
  • Gnomes/MG learn how to channel elemental energy via interdimensional totems
  • Draenei/LFF get Krokul/Void Krokul, getting shamans thus
  • Void Elves learn Kareshi shamanism, learning to harness their void tainted elementals now part of the cosmic void
  • Forsaken reveal there were Kul Tirans and Gilneans among those raised by Arthas, thud Thornspeakers, Tidesages, and Harvest Witches all exist but altered through undeath, “Decay” Shamans
  • Blood Elves / Nightborne have their arcane botanist fantasy that can easily extend to arcane elementalist

Typed all that up off the top of my head! Same as I did with the warlock NPC ideas that made it in-game, maybe we’ll soon manifest these

I don’t they you HAVE to do the quest to unlock the race/class combo. It’s just there to give you a little lore on why it’s happened. Like the questline about the third Evoket spec or the one with all the new Warlock races.

Would quests that add new starts also count? Allied races and Pandaren got a new one for DK I thought?

No, that’s just a new starting zone. I assume VE DHs will get one since the new DKs got one like you said.

Shamans felt more unique back when only a few faces bore the title.

This would be my favorite way to handle new combos.

I think the class restrictions are useful in portraying what each playable race’s culture and affinities are like - what they lean toward and what they lean against, thus what to expect from their NPCs and stories - and then quests exist for players to go “okay, I know this isn’t a big thing in [race]'s culture, but I want to play it” and have full freedom to mix and match as they see fit.
