Where is everyone?

I just resubbed today after taking a few months off. I logged in to Oribos, and there are literally only like 10 people in the zone. So I went to Stormwind, and there were only like 10 people there as well. And I’m on a high pop server high Alliance server. When I left, there were 100+ at any given time, even in the middle of the night.

I know the meme is WoW is dying, and people like to dunk on it, but this is something crazy. I have been around since Vanilla and never saw it like this. Is it this bad on all servers? I thought about transferring but fear it will be the same on all the other servers too.

On Stormrage? Did you verify that with a /who Oribos?

I’m honestly surprised there’s that many people in Oribos, what are they doing? What IS there to do there?

I didn’t who, I was just looking around the main area and upstairs and it was a ghost town earlier today. Some more on this evening so that’s good at least.

I thought that Sharding would always make the world feel full.

Don’t rely on your eyes, sharding makes that unreliable. There could be 10,000 players there and it would still look like a ghost town :man_shrugging:

Blizz could adjust it so that shards have a higher cap so there’s more players in each but more players = more lag and more competition for resources (ore/herbs, mobs, “stuff” to pickup for quests, etc). Cities should be fine for an increase though since there’s nothing to do in the city but like…idk talk to the pvp vendor dude or use a bruto AH

The purpose of sharding is to split up players into separate shards when there are too many playing at once, which can slow down servers to a crawl. So it makes the world seem less full.

Out in the World doing stuff.

There were all sorts of folks running around Pandaria visiting inns for Hallow’s End candy, questing, fighting the World Bosses, ect.

There has been very little to do for a while now. I still enjoy m+ but even that is getting old having only 8 dungeons still.
Other than that korthia is meh. And finished ages ago anyway.

All there is to do is wait for the next patch which brings with it 3 excellent weeks followed by another boring 4 months or so until 9.2. Lots of people have unsubbed. Can’t blame them really

none of my characters really hang out in Oribos aside from all the RP talkytalky parts of the intro quest line. usually they’re either training professions or en route to the other SL zones

Unfortunately pretty much yes. There are random days I log in and there is surprisingly quite a few.

Is there a lot of people in your guild?

I’m looking for a social one.

That’s the best Invasion of the Pod People movie ever created. Other than the original.

Back on topic!!

A lot of people are playing other games and waiting for more content to come out.

I play super casually on weird hours–so I’m usually on at like 3 am when it is a ghost town.

Anecdotal experience is the best evidence.

Most left for FF and NW. Others quit bc of the investigation. Mostly bc blizz is killing this game.

No idea where they went, but I know they are not here. Works out well if you are hunting for rare pets in War Mode as a hunter. Not so much when you want the game to feel like an MMO.
