Where is Crusader Bridenbrad?

With all the new Shadowlands information and ‘retcons’, I’m curious where people think this character went now.

A’dal says: Fear not, young one, for this crusader shall not taste death.
A’dal says: In life, Bridenbrad was the bearer of great deeds. Now, in passing, he shall taste only paradise.
A’dal says: The light does not abandon its champions.

Is there still a Light paradise some might go to (like the Troll Other Side) or do you think it is entirely out of the mix? Did he just go to the Arbiter for judgment?

More than likely? He’s in Bastion. As we know from Maldraxxus, everytime the Light tries to reach into the Shadowlands, it gets beaten back by the Undying Army.

Maybe that was more figurative than literal, ie, agents of the Light, like Naaru or light lords.

The Light is a force of magic, I don’t think the Shadowlands are incapable of harboring it, especially considering paladins and priests still have power there.

He should be united with the light since that is what the Naaru offered him back in wotlk. His soul is saved.

His soul is somewhere in the Shadowlands, that’s all we know, and since there a Infinite number of Afterlives, it’s possible there is a Light based afterlife.

There might be a difference between pulling a soul out of the Shadowlands and intervening to steal it before it gets there. Bridenbrad was “saved” before his soul crossed over, so maybe it never touched the Shadowlands at all.

i think bastion is that paradise too

you don’t have to turn into a kyrian and forsake your memories, you can live in that heaven with great weather for eons before choosing to say “yup this is enough rest” and turning into one of the memory-less “angels”

They probably have rules like “Get back to your meditation” rather than allowing you to just… chill.

Are you allowed to just not try in Bastion?

Seems like a pretty uptight place. Rules, schedules, walk with the elders and all that.

i think so? i mean, in the animation the helmet faceless guy said “some take aeons”

like, maybe he was being hyperbolic, but i imagine he does mean at least a few thousand years

Aeons of trying before they succeed, though. That’s how it sounded to me.

yeah, to give up on the self, but as she demonstrated, she could turn him into an angel whenever she wanted

so, if uther or someone else in his position wanted, they could just chill there for such a long time they barely remember their mortal life.

This is my personal speculation but…

I imagine certain Naaru, such as A’dal, are actually in the good graces of the ruling powers of the Shadowlands. Others, like Xe’ra, are probably the ones that actively attempted to conquer it, and thus would be enemies of the Shadowlands.

In short, I don’t think the Arbiter or Pantheon of Death deal in broad strokes of the brush.

With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if A’dal did have a connection to a Naaru that presided over a Light-based Afterlife in the Shadowlands. There is definitely a BIG difference between Naaru like A’dal and Xe’ra. Will we see this Paradise of the Light afterlife? I’m not sure to be honest. Depends on if Zorvaal decides to either attack it, or provokes it’s denizens into attacking him.

I’d like to think it’s something we’ll see in a future patch. The characters in the Shadowlands all have connections to various souls there. Thrall obviously is connected to Draka, Jaina has history with Arthas, Kael’thas, and Uther, Baine will no doubt end up meeting Cairne, and that leaves Anduin. The status of Varian’s soul is in question, but Tiffin’s soul? That should be safe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up in the Paradise of the Light, considering she’s a source of inspiration for Anduin that enables him to wield the light to begin with.

So, hopefully 9.1 or 9.2 give us some new Afterlives to explore that are more strongly connected to a bulk of Alliance/Horde races. I imagine Orcs and Tauren, for example, might have similar afterlives. Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, High/Blood Elves, Draenei, etc… would easily all fall into that Paradise of the Light too.

I don’t think it’s going to come up. Bridenbrad was a stand in for an employee who passed away of cancer. They gave him that quest because they cared a lot about him, but I don’t think they want to suggest he has anything but a happy afterlife, wherever he is.

He’s in the Hell of Forgotten Characters.

I like the idea of the light having a place for its own.

Champions of the light like Urther deserve to be there, rather then a place that looks like a parody of the light.

I think it’s possible he’s not in the Shadowlands, and instead “became one with the Light”. This is a thing that is sometimes said by dying paladins and priests, and I think they mean that quite literally. Would make sense, as the Void version of this seems to be just being obliterated by the Void itself.

Limbo*

:cactus:

Void seems to feed on Souls/Death while Light seems to feed on Life if the Mag’har Allied Race Questline is any indication.

Fel feeds on both while Arcane feeds only on itself.

Souls are safe in the Light while Life is safe in the Void(provided the particular Void corruption isn’t Void Flames like the Sha and the Corruption of Y’Shaarj are).
