Where exactly does the Blasted Lands (zone and related quests) fit into the overall Warcraft timeline?

After speaking to Zidormi, and selecting “Show me the Blasted Lands before the invasion”, which ‘invasion’ is she referring to? The invasion of the old horde from Draenor into Azeroth in WC1, the invasion of the Alliance into Outland, or another ‘invasion’ which does not yet come to mind. Any clarification is much appreciated.

She is speaking of the Draenor invasion that lead into the WOD expansion…

Blasted Lands didn’t exist before the portal was closed during the second war. Before its abrupt closing, it was just part of the Swamp of Sorrows.

Ahh. Okay. Thanks for the response. And my bad, you are correct. The old horde invasion into azeroth happened prior to the existence of this zone as “Blasted Lands”

There’s a great questline in lower level Blasted Lands that tells you the second part of the Loramus storyline. Great questline. You learn a lot about DHs from that one and from the Feronas one in Felwood. :slightly_smiling_face:

Even before Classic, there was Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. That first RTS game was set shortly after the portal was opened.

The initial portal from Draenor to Azeroth was opened by Medivh before the 1st War.

If you want to see what the area around the portal was like before it was Blasted, run the Black Morass instance in the Caverns of Time.
