Where does the story go after Shadowlands?

Any guesses?

The Void, possibly.

The most obvious and probably most necessary follow up after SL would be something like:

Old world revamp
rebuilding stuff, refining races and factions and clean up all the mess from teh latest expansions

BUT since blizzard never does the most logical thing we will probably go somewhere completely unecessary.
Like the homeworld of the strange guys from Ardenweald or so, just
 for reasons.

So whatever makes remotely sense and would be interesting: This will not be it.

If you combine the first 3 responses you get

chase sylvanas to the void side of the moon.

Why is that highly possible lol?

If you consider existing lore as predictive at all, then the next expansion is almost guaranteed to be Light/Void related, as there are so many loose threads related to the war between these forces.

However, as BfA and WoD have proven, sometimes an expansion can come out of left field and be fairly unrelated to existing loose ends hints.

So the serious answer is: it will be Light/Void related
or it will be something else. Helpful?

Cosmic war or World revamp.

How would they even frame a real Light v Void War expac? Unlike the Scourge, unlike the Burning Legion, the Light and the Void are both necessary for reality to exist. It’s not like we can get rid of one or the other.

(Speculative): Each expansion since WoD has been giving us teasers for the next expansion. In WoD, there was plenty of demonic stuff mixed in with the Iron Horde stuff. Then we go to Legion, where we see faction conflict getting teased with Stormheim, and Void stuff in Argus. Suddenly we have a faction conflict expansion with void elements in BFA. BFA, meanwhile, kept giving us tidbits to do with undeath and the Scourge. Now, we’ve got Shadowlands, and in the Shadowlands, we’re seeing both the Light and Void brought up as antagonists a fair bit. We’ll have to see where it goes to be sure, but I’d hazard a guess our next expansion will be a war of Light and Void.

“Something something BOTHSAME something something BALANCE something something Horde leader goes evil, cue faction war.”

This more sounds like :
You want to see faces where there are none but just coincedently laying rocks.

Take faction conflict
for example you see that in every expansion

No I don’t think you can really predict that since blizzard doesn’t follow a coherent story or even common sense. Unfortunately

BFA wasn’t out of left field as all, as ultimately, it was about Nazjatar and N’Zoth. Both HIGHLY foreshadowed.

I think there is a good chance that the main villain of the next expansion might be light based. I could see Turalyon being tricked into gaining ‘help’ from some extreme Naaru and opening the way for a Light based invasion.

I’m going to guess that Yrel and the Light Mother will likely have a hand in that. For all the Alliance knows Yrel was an ally. She’s the chosen of AU Velen, inherited MU Maraad’s warhammer, and they fought the Iron Horde with her. On top of this only the Horde has any window into the nightmare that AU Draenor became in the last 30 years of its history; and with the peaceniks stolen away
not a lot of communication going on between the factions I’m guessing.

And before people say “I think Blizz never wants to revisit AU again”
I agree, which is why what little they want to salvage from WoD will come to us. That world is twice doomed after all. The AU Mag’har used a time-mcguffin from Eitrigg to get to our world, the AU Lightbound though? They have what I’d guess is a Prime Naaru leading them, I would wager they’d be able to make Naaru ships that can travel between space and dimensions.

Into the abyss.

The expansion hasn’t even started yet.

Isn’t it JUST a bit early to call the end?

And the NEs can pick out a nice new place to live. Close to their goddess, far from the nasty ol’ Horde. Someplace covered in lovely silver trees
