We finally have Classic now, an as close as we could get to vanilla game that literally took years to come to fruition. We battled against the wall of NO, arrogant devs turned CEO, and the refail protectionist crowd in general.
So why do people honestly believe they can get thier desired changes through, some with the attitude of “they did Classic, so surely they will do my personal version too” regularly rearing their head here on the forums.
We have unending calls for classic+, which depending on who you ask, can be a very different thing from person to person, mixed with “i want TBC / wotlk / cata / mop etc etc etc” from others…
Before you make the next “i want XXX” thread, take moment to pause and consider the difficult road we went down just to get here. It’s not something i would want to see anyone have to endure again, nor can i understand why anyone would want to endure it.
Be realistic, just because we have finally have Classic, doesn’t mean that personalised versions of WoW are going to happen. Take your pick, enjoy classic, enjoy refail, enjoy both…but for the love of WoW please stop with the “I wants” and savor the truly historic moment we have NOW.
Classic hasn’t been out 3 weeks yet, wait and see where things land in a years time before we all get our knickers in a twist now.

This has baffled me, people having been asking for classic servers for 13 years. But yeah, blizzards going to build you your own perfect custom server just for you, because you’re special. Incredible.

Who isn’t ‘we’ and what battle do you think you fought? You moaned on the internet and you think you won some great battle? What kind of delusions of grandeur are these?
Classic exists so that Blizzard can make money; not to placate your delusions.

Whether it’s classic, classic+ or anything else, I just want something that works and is good and is not retail.

Here is what is going to happen. If classic continues to do well, we may see a change in design philosophy in retail. If classic continues to do well, Bc servers will be released. If that does well Wrath and so on. There is no way a “classic+” will happen. Runescape can do it because their story and world are very different from WoW. WoW is baised off established lore where runescape is kind of making it up as they go. The biggest thing runescape took away was the revolution of combat, blizz would have to loose whole story segments and thats just not going to happen. How do you add content to a story driven game without telling the story? You can’t just plop Icc in the middle of the burning steps to keep vanilla fans happy.

Just take a moment and think carefully here.
If Refail was popular and going the right direction, why would Blizzard risk derailing that success by going into direct competition with it’s own flagship product ?
Here’s a tip, it wasn’t just me “moaning” as you put it, it wasn’t because lots of people “moaned”, it wasn’t because Refail was highly successful either. It was because they’ve finally realized the massive mistake they made by underestimating the popularity of a 15 year old game that they destroyed. It’s hard to accept mistakes, even harder to correct them.
Yet here we are. Yes they’re making money, but what led them to this point ?

And how did they know there was demand to run those numbers unless people were, well, demanding legacy servers like we were?

My point is simple: The ‘WE WANTED CLASSIC!’ people played no role in the existence of classic. How did they know to run those numbers? They looked at server populations, subscriptions and how much money they made. You know, business stuff?
They looked at server populations on Pservers, they noted that it wasn’t a flash in the pan by the constant stream of demands, they saw a declining trend in Refail’s popularity and sustainability.
Smart businesses look outside of their own actions to best decide what market trends to follow or which ones to try and engage with.
It probably ends with wotlk.
You might want to be careful in your glass house, considering how often you wail about “refail” and generalize their entire populace based on some trolls on the forums.

I make no generalizations about Refail players.
I do make observations about Refail players who come to trash Classic on the Classic forums, or those who try to infect Classic with their own Refail styled brand of game-play. Some of my best friends in Vanilla still played Refail right up to the release of Classic. Some still play Refail even though Classic is out.
The only one making generalizations has been you, you constantly try and paint it as though my dislike of Refail means I hate ALL Refail players, nothing is further from the truth.

Oh, it doesn’t end. It never ends. Even Blizzard knows this. Asking for more and more seems to be a pretty authentic WoW experience, though.
Never say never..classic+ could happen..many people thought classic servers would NEVER happen..Classic+ could be amazing..If JageX can make it work for OSRS, Blizz can make it work for Classic+…tbh..classic+ is more feasible then just having all these other servers like BC servers, WOTLK , where does it end? Some people may want MOP, WOD, LEGION, etc etc..Classic+ is better..even many top streamers said they’d rather they go in a classic+ direction…All those other expansions end and eventually lead back to retail..Classic+ could survive for a long time with new updates. eventually new raids, dungeons , zones etc.

OP you gotta realise that a lot of the people who play this game are ah… not quite sure how to put it. But they pay their $15 a month so by word of the fooking LAW they demand that Blizzard cater to their needs and their needs only. Otherwise the sky is falling and they scream bloody murder.
Ignore/laugh/troll them back and move on to the next thread.
