Where do boost buyers get their ego?

  1. buy M+ runs to boost your ilvl and rating
  2. think you are a good player because your ilvl is inflated from buying runs
  3. queue up for high level keys, do less damage than the tank, possibly brick the key

I don’t mind people buying runs to feel better about themselves. But where do they get the ego to queue up for higher level keys? People will easily be able to tell they are subpar players. What is their goal?

Get carried without buying it, obviously?

I’ve heard stories about “the girlfriend/wife” who can’t play for crap, gets boosted by their guild, goes and pugs a key and gets a dose of reality that they suck but they can’t accept it.

I don’t think all boosted players are buying, I think some people are so sheltered in guilds that carry them hard core.

From there wallets, just stating the obvious.

I also think this is a problem.

Since the +8-10 range has the bulk of the rewards, you’ll often have very skilled players mixing with less skilled players. This allows less skilled players to get carried if they’re lucky. Since it hard to tell the difference between a high skill player farming 10s for the vault and a less skilled players who has taken the time to get lucky then they will seem like people who’ve been boosted.

Just take the time and effort to vet better.

Be me, sin rogue, bought my portals after being hard stuck on 7s and barely timing them. Get into an 8 stonecore with my 2500 rating and 630 ilvl.

I am clearly too good to move out of ground effects, dying 2-3 times per pull. Make it to second boss with only 8 deaths on my end. Cloak of shadows then nuke all 3 crystals same time, 1 shotting both the healer and our highest dps. Continue to dps and blow all cds to top meter while everyone else is dead.

Leave group, whisper healer “ur so bad u need to uninstall.” Feel good about myself cuz I still have 630 ilvl and portals.

Ahh I love getting boosters.

Most of the boosted players don’t even realize that they were boosted from vault or crest farmers. People don’t understand that just because you timed a dungeon on one key level it doesn’t mean they are ready for the next.

They get it from the same place the rats in any pug key get it, delusion.

Your entire post perfectly sums up 4/5 pug dungeons I attempt to heal right now, unfortunately this brain dead plauge is hitting the tanks really hard. The tanks are all HORRIBLE and have massive chips on their shoulder thinking they can do huge pulls, then die a few seconds in every time.

I saw a lot of this in DF season 1. Many keys that were bricked in less than 30 seconds. Stuff like Nokhud triple pull opening and the entire first hallway in temple of the jade serpent.

I get the impression that they’re trying to copy routes from much better players. But they’re not very good, and often the dps aren’t great or they don’t have the comp to pull that route off, but they think it’s a “standard route” and blame everyone else when it inevitably goes bad, even though they’d easily time it if they went a little slower and tried to feel out how much the group can pull.
