I have a ton of time in this game. I really enjoy it but I think we see this as a beta fro classic plus so its good to point out some of the flaws…
fishing : Really should be quicker to level. Would have been neat to add more to it.
Hunter pets: Loyalty gain just feels off, it might be the joyous journeys buff doing this
Gryphon speed: Should have the modern gryphon speed.
Mage Tables: Yes pls, also soul wells…
Focus Windows: especially with the plate distance being so short, needed for pvp.
Guild Bank: no brainer
Guild Calendar: again no brainer.
BOA attunes: More things need the Ony treatement. Would love to try out some timeworn gear on my alt but no one farms brood rep now.
PVP: This might be a coding thing, but abilities need to do different damage to boss and players across the board. The game is just to bursty, might need rest… The burrow trinket should cancel starfall, etc… Rotate in another bgs, we are on the same client, give us a twin peaks weekend, lol…
Having 2 separate raids require specific gear for the entire raid
the Heat system in MC and the Sanctified System in Naxx, when the Best Items for those raids end up largely useless outside of those raids by choice of the devs it leaves a sour feeling in my gut
Their launch yes. I let myself get burnt out by them when they were launched but I think they are great now.
Every few days or so, I would take my most rested xp alt, I enable the consoleport addon, hop on a ps5 controller and do a quick 30min loop for an easy 2 levels. Because of the incursions, I have every class to 60 and it was remarkably easy. They all dinged at roughly the same time so I even got them all attuned to mc and bwl in one go too.
It was fun learning each sod class and trying out new builds for leveling in a static environment. No worrying about what quest line which alt was on or what flight path which alt doesnt have. No afk-ing mindlessly in a dungeon waiting for the booster to send out a raid warning to leave and reenter. You just enter a flow state & do a loop.
There’s just too much and trying to post it I don’t think I’d keep it coherent. When I go and look at the SoD release date → Phase 2 it doesn’t really seem like a long time. Yet in game it seemed like Phase 1 lasted a LONG time.
When they announced Gnomer we lost like half our guild because those people hated Gnomer as a dungeon so much they refused to even try it as a “raid.” So in phase 1 we had 2 or 3 Deeps runs a day/night every day/night of the week. We just had so many people and yes a few of those runs were alts. In phase 2 when it went live we had ONE team lol…
We lost close to half our raid team by the middle of phase 2 and used various means to fill that for the rest of P2. We tried a partnership with another guild and then we had the Coalition on Lava Lash that worked out pretty well. When they forced us to move off Lava Lash we ended up having to try to recruit at least half the raid… we weren’t really getting new players to join the guild and everyone was trying to recruit (I mean all the guilds that got pushed off lava lash and guilds that were there. It was just a lot to compete against for a small pool of unguilded players.) We did pick up some regulars that would raid with us. Near the end of phase 3 leadership was tired of all the recruiting and the guild more or less dissolved. I tried another guild for phase 4, but it wasn’t the same and I bailed. I came back this week just to mess around, but I’m not really playing. So the ball was dropped pretty early on.
On the PvP side with all the imbalance and lack of action or improper action blah blah and like in phase 1 the so called “pvp event.” I think it was mostly popular with the PvE players to farm rep. Oh and I didn’t really play SoD to get into PvP, but some of my friends were big pvp types. That ball was dropped from the start and well I don’t know the state of it now.
The design team had about 3 different modes: 1) Do nothing when they should be doing something 2) Do something that made things worse or 3) Do interviews but do nothing with the project. Later phases they seemed to be trying to do things… but when you’ve lost so many players that most of the servers are closed that is kind of late to the party.
I don’t even know what WoW+ would be now. My view point is that I don’t see the point of getting back into SoD now. Mostly I’m talking to the few people I used to play with that are still around. So what I really am waiting for is that time point when something else comes along and apparently that’s going to be quite a while. Along with all the things that I liked in SoD likely not being in WoW+ if it happens.
Obviously the ball was dropped… many many times with SoD. The real question is are they ever going to be able to pick it back up.
I can’t stand WoW live. I am not sure I really see the point of MoP Classic. So ah maybe something in 2026? Or just keep pushing that dropped ball along.
I’m just gonna point at today’s hotfix. Too busy “fixing” things that don’t matter, sweeping strikes and blade flurry were benefitting too much from the % bonuses in naxx. better nerf that in less than 24 hours while aff lock puts up an infinite duration, infinitely scaling, curse of agony and does 7k more dps.
Just absolutely wasting their time fixing random garbage “problems” while their game rots.
This actually is the same they pulled in legion. Players were concerned about farming artifact power for their spec to get nerfed when mythic raids came out. Don’t worry, blizz came through and explicitly said “we won’t nerf specs the same week mythic raids release”. And then the LITERAL FIRST AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY, mythic emerald nightmare, legion’s first raid tier, let’s gut outlaw rogue right there on release week. get back to farming rejects. It wasn’t even better than fire mage in the absolute ideal situation they were afraid of it’s performance during.
It’s insane what they can find time to fix while pvp, which was supposed to be some big important part of sod between ashenvale, stv, and brm, is literally left in the gutter.
They dropped the ball on many things like nerfing the drop on mature black dragon sinew by adding more loot to ony it’s not like there is a range weapon shortage for hunters…
Even though warriors call other classes not real classes they could have seen some love.
Because warriors whined about the possibility of rage normalization which is literally the only way to allow for giving them new toys without making the class completely busted. Hence why T1 6pc was even put in, as a weird workaround with the rage issue.
Yup. I would say an explicit goal of SoD is to prevent Warrior meta from taking over. Warriors whined about rage normalization, so Blizzard always has to err on the side of Warriors being bad because hitting right on the mark is so difficult and they can’t allow them to break the game.
Oh well. Warriors made their bed now they have to lie in it. It’s not like we’re really missing that much with only 1, maybe 2 Warriors per raid anyways, they aren’t that interesting of a class mechanically.
Dude, look at what runes they gave warriors. Look at what our rotation is. Look where our damage comes from.
Now understand that if they normalize rage they have to COMPLETELY REWORK THE ENTIRE CLASS. Because the whole class doesn’t even remotely function with normalized rage without building a completely new rotation based on the rage they INTEND for us to generate.
Do you honestly think, that they would put forth a FRACTION of the effort needed? To fix our rotation post-normalization? Arms is literally gutter trash in every single form of content. Per Zirene’s twitter full on abandoned! And you think they’d fix our rotations?!
Which is what they should have done in the first place, but they listened to Fight Club who were scared less that they wouldn’t get an easy spot on top of the meter.
