Where did RMD go?

I know H Priest is ridiculous right now, but I haven’t seen RMD in a long while. I used to love watching people compete on it, as R Druid is my preferred spec. I play a lot of BGs and 2s, but can some who knows a lot about 3s comps explain why druids don’t play with mage/rogue comps much anymore?

Also what are some successful older comps that don’t work well anymore and why?

Druid is damp and struggles killing passives, tank legendaries, tank trinkets, and hybrids outhealing healers in 3v1 without like 20k+ priest damage during holy fire/mindgames/death.

Also like disc priest a druid in RMD is more reactable in terms of 321 goes being required vs all the bladestorms, fades, triple fleshcrafts, tranquility immunes. If you run in to bash/roar clone someone you give people time to react rather than just getting chastised 30yards away as someone gets DB’ed/Stunned.

Lastly druids would be vulnerable actually going in and actually playing the game. Most druid comps you see good druids just continuously go for restealths and avoid CC/swaps to themselves while topping their teammates with big buttons like swiftmend, overgrowth, cen ward, NS.

Not sure why it’s taken so long for l.s.d. to take off again when one of the 3 variants always have dominated for decades until last few expansions, but if any meta will bring it back it will be the current one after how some lock ele games looked in the tournament. I’m worried we are heading towards a wizard meta with mage lock, mage ele, lock ele being so strong pre unnecessary pve buffs.

As much as I hate melee being strong/cleaves and feel like there are still good cleave comps RN I don’t feel like there’s plug and play melee into everything like warrior was the first 2 seasons besides maybe Assa rogue being able to play with Mage/SP/Lock. Most specs these last 2 expansions have only really had 1-3 comps outside of outliers like how broken warrior was.

Very informative, thank you

Mind games is just to strong of a compliment to the comp, even if the meta shifts back to Disc over Hpriest the additional damage from Dark Arch can be hard to deal with.

Hpally still seems to be the second best healer after a priest because of the abundance of defensives with bop/sac/freedoms to keep the team dependably getting setups to reverse pressure.

because why play rdruid when you play the most broken healer in the game Hpriest with the most broken comp in the game RMP

were there lock ele games? feel bad for missing it

issue with l$d right now is ele dies to piss and the game needs to go on long enough for ele pad to mean anything

i havent qd it with tier, or even close to bis gear, so it could be completely different assuming bis vs bis

Why run with a druid when you can run with a priest for half the effort?

Realistically and historically priest just synergizes better with r/m, better damage to help with kill go’s, purge/MD for defensives mainly.

Druid can be pretty powerful to clone targets low when a kill is lost, and rotate DRs between KT and healer, but again, just pressing purge on something like bop is just way easier.

Don’t think there was one Ele/Lock awc game whatsoever

I remember watching Graycen in s1 and some of s2 playing Frost RMD. It looked pretty cool. Lots of CC. He played a weird build with the CoC talent and W-Ele. They played up to above 3k, but then again he’s also a multi-r1, so yea…

It feels very different with tier. If fire ele isn’t banished constantly, you’re melting people.

It’s still hyper squishy to melee, but in a wizard vs wizard matchup I can see it doing quite well (with tier).
