Where could I go for questions?

Not calling you guys useless or anything! I just have a new question every 5 seconds and I don’t wanna end up spamming the forum with my noobness.

Now, I know you’re about to tell me guilds exist for a reason but I play with my husband and my mother and we like to be in our own private guild together with our toons and stuff without having to worry too much about constant raiding or interaction or anything.

… and the Newcomer chat’s absolute trash.

So, my question is, do you know anywhere I can ask questions and actually get answers? I entered a few Discords but when I ask questions I get radio silence. It’s simple stuff like how to do archeology in Outlands, how do advance cooking in Outlands, etc.

Thanks a lot for reading!

on the top of this here forum if you click on “Forums” you can browse down to the New Player Help and Guide forums

personal experience folks there are very helpful and should be able to answer any question you have

also since GD is used for literally anything if you feel a question can be better answered here you can give it a shot

people here are usually happy to ask questions, but there are always the heroes who feel the need to puff their chest and act as if they were forced to read the thread, and get offended by people asking questions about the game.

as far as resources go, wowhead.com should be your standard “go to” for most things.
(i’d suggest using an adblocker if you’re not already using one, the site is riddled with ads)

I browse that forum from time to time but some people still don’t get their answers. As a general rule try to find everything out online and especially on wowhead. Simple google searches like “outland archaeology” should bring about several articles about this topic.

Anything after that use the new player forum, since it’s perhaps the ‘last line of defense.’

i can see that, my personal time seemed fruitful there but yeah mileage may vary

but yeah Google searches can help a good deal as well

i’ve been trying to encourage some of the people who signed up as guides to help out in the New Player forum, but the suggestion doesn’t seem to have gained much traction yet.
there was a really good set of people who helped out in NPF for years, but most of them have moved on… and with nobody stepping up to take their place, it’s starting to become a bit of a wasteland

This level 38 Rogue is capped now, I wish they’d remove the honor cap.

It feels kinda bad when you want to level through BGs and then you don’t get what you’re used to getting at a certain point for doing the same thing.

Question threads are my favorite because a lot of times I learn something new about something.

Ignore the “google is your friend” people. Google isn’t your friend. They’re spies.

I wouldn’t recommend asking for help in GD. You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

personally, i’d advise that newcomers don’t try to google anything wow related.
there are too many phishing sites which are out to steal peoples information.

I’ve never actually seen a guild force it’s players to raid, or do anything, they don’t want too and I have been in quite a few guilds. That said, if you refuse to look for a guild that can help you. I Would say google actually helps a lot. Sometimes it’ll take you to wowhead, where you’ll have to read the comments, sometimes it’ll bring you to the wow forums themselves, overall the information can be found. If worse comes to worse, there’s always trade chat. Just let people know you’re new, and you’ll probably get an answer with out that, some may very well think you’re trolling, and just give you crap.

wowhead and icy veins have a lot of help, there are “new to wow” and “returning players” guides on worldofwarcraft.com under games header, a lot of people ask in general chat and get some help there [just ignore the jerks they exist everywhere].

Wowhead…comments section.
its pretty much required reading for this game.

^ This.

It is a very rich source of information on just about everything. Also, after searching and finding what you need, there is a Comment tab when you scroll down a bit. You will almost always find very detailed instructions/directions/video links added by their community.

Newcomers chat is absolute trash? Who could’ve seen that coming.

To answer you like I’m sure many others did, the forums are a good place as well as a guild you may have joined if there’s friendly and responsive players there to help out.

Or just ask me, although if it’s about class balance I’ll just tell you to reroll DK or get outta my face. :relaxed:

Everyone here brings up good advice.

As for my insight… I usually never use forums, I’m more of a instant messenger to have conversations quicker, but I find that the WoW forums are well made enough that I’m actually using it now. If you ever can’t figure something out with google, posting here is nice, and if the question is more complex than what can be answered in a post, folks like me are willing to jump into discord to do what they can for ya

Google will give you an answer to probably any wow question.

It will almost always have a link to the correct wowhead page as the top result. Far easier than searching wowhead directly unless you know the exact name you’re looking for

What’s GD?

… Man, I HATE that I can only reply to one comment. So many people helping and all I can do is like their comment. Damn it, Blizzard.
