Where can I meet Thrall in this game

Hey still new here I’ve been hanging out in Orgrimmar for a while now and I seen Sylvanas just hanging out but what about Thrall, where is he the alpha orc… I see him in so many WoW posters and covers and we can’t even see him!?

I believe he makes an appearance in the Troll starter zone towards the end of that quest chain. He’s definitely prominent in Cataclysm zone story lines for both Alliance and Horde around levels 80-90, and Warlords of Draenor levels 90-100. I’m sure there are quest chains with him and guest appearances of him (so to speak) in between low level zones and Cata zones, but I’m more familiar with Alliance zone quests than Horde ones, tbh.

Back in the day (pre-Pandaria) he was warchief and Horde players could just walk into Orgrimmar and see him in the same place where Sylvanas is most of the time now, but that’s obviously not possible any more.

I’m not sure it’s known exactly where he is during the events of Battle for Azeroth, or where he was during Legion, for that matter. Hmmm.

Edited to add: Welcome to the game. Hope you’re having fun!!

Additional info:

This link should give you a lot of the various places that you can find Thrall as an NPC in game. Not the easiest way to find him, but for some of those, he may be part of quest chains and for some he’s the actual quest giver. For others, he’s in instanced zones like dungeons and raids. Also, once you get past page 4 of links, most of them don’t reference Thrall the NPC and won’t be helpful to you. I just couldn’t figure out how to narrow down the search results to weed those bad links out.

I checked a few, and here’s the link to him as a quest giver in the Troll starter zone in case you want to try to catch up to him there either on that character (not sure that’s possible) or on a new Troll character:

Never mind. I’m a dunce. That says Pandaran campaign requires level 81. So sorry. Ignore me. I thought for sure I remembered him being part of Troll starter zone but I think I’m wrong about that.

At the start of Cataclysm, Thrall appointed Garrosh Hellscream as Warchief so that he could go do his shaman thing and help the Earthen Ring fight the elemental unrest, and eventually Deathwing. When Garrosh didn’t work out, he made Vol’jin the Warchief, then Vol’jin handed the mantle over to Sylvanas before he died as a result of the Burning Legion’s first assault. Thrall was still with the Earthen Ring during Legion in the shaman class hall, where he gave the player Doomhammer and leadership of the Earthen Ring before going off to be with his family and feel sad.

He is, sort of. Trolls got the Echo Isles for their own starting area in Cataclysm, and there’s an in-game RP scene at the end of those quests in which Vol’jin speaks with a “vision” of Thrall, I forget exactly what it was but it’s basically a hologram-type deal. IIRC that was one of the starting areas that other races could do.

Those other quests are part of the level 90 Dominance Offensive quest chain, from MoP’s endgame, although they might have adjusted the available level for all of that content.

I don’t remember seeing him around much at lower levels aside from the goblin starting area, but the Escape from Durnholde dungeon is available in the mid-60’s, at 85 the “Elemental Bond” quest chain and Hour of Twilight heroic dungeon can be done from the end of Cataclysm, then he shows up a lot more for WoD in the Blasted Lands and a lot of Draenor starting at 90. I know there are other places, but those are pretty Thrall-centric.

That’s what I’m remembering. Thank you, sir. *tips hat

Thrall shows up on and off through the Deepholm (Cataclysm zone) storyline, and has a cool cutscene battle towards the end of the Nagrand (WoD version) quest line as well.

He’s not really a main character anymore, as he hasn’t been Warchief of the Horde for a long time, so aside from the random instances of him in plot-important areas, you can’t exactly “meet” him.

In Legion he had a brief cameo appearance in the Shaman class hall
