Where are the RP communities at in 2025? (preferably Horde)

I’d like to start a fresh Character and find an active RP guild or community
(preferably Horde but open minded). I may have wrote this in the wrong forum but didn’t see any specific RP selections.

What I’m interested in:

-Open to Classic, Retail, SoD, where ever the RP communities are

=preferably one that does more than stand in a circle and talk/emote ,

-leans towards the casual side
(doesn’t require hours worth of resume interrogation and interviewing.)

-I’d like to make a shaman, unsure of race (leaning Tauren so i can eventually get the heritage armor but again, open minded)

-doesn’t have to be a single race locked group but not opposed to that either, I was in the Shadowtusk Clan waaaaaay back in the day around 2010 on WRA and it was sort of fun seeing how they use Zul Gurub, but at the time it was a lot of standing around and emoting, i see they are still around though and maybe they have changed it up since then

-I’d like to go out and have RP leveling buddies or in-character content completing stuff, or community events ( that are more than standing and emoting) playing the game some what in character at the least. I could possibly convince a friend to join as well if I find the right spot for us

i guess I’m just looking to be pointed in the right direction.

Largest one is Wyrmcrest Accord Horde, unfortunately, short of finding a secret Discord group, I don’t see a lot there either, it’s like MG Alliance, you can either find the folks who hole themselves up in places like Boralus and Gilneas in private groups or all you’ll find is AFKers in the main capital.

I can suggest Gearfist Acquisitions? They’re livening up Undermine currently.

It’s called faction swapping to alliance and transfering to Moonguard.

I’d recommend possibly hopping on WrA and asking around for invites to server project discords, and/or doing the same on MG and finding a guild that is neutral/cross-faction and doesn’t spend all its time in Alliance-only areas.

Personally, we’ve got mostly Alliance characters in our guild, but we spend our time in faction-neutral spaces so our Horde members don’t have to worry. We just make sure we always have Elixirs of Tongues on hand! I think there are a number of guilds out there like that. Good luck!

Personally, I’m hoping they’ll eventually allow cross faction communication, if it’s nothing more than a diplomatic quest for Horde to learn common like they did Furbolg in DF, and Alliance can study orcish…IC wise every major character on both factions of equal or higher rank than us can speak and write/read the other faction’s language but we can’t?

That legit makes no sense.

If you’re looking for RP on WrA, you can hit up the WrA Tavern (RP Discord). We have an active, growing community with lots of members, guilds, resources and conversations.

Plot twist. We can drink Elixer of Tongues yet the major NPCs can’t.

I’m in a Horde RP guild.

We all RP like we’re normal people, though.

Stuff that inner nerd into a sack, then a locker, then a water proof container, then water.

It makes me wonder, why up to this day a consumable is even required? I guess they wanted a toggle for people to opt out off griefers (although just seeing uninteligible text is already disruptive to RP), they could at least make Elixir of Tongues a toy.

Don’t rp players use the potion in legion daleran sewers to understand the other faction?

wra has a few people that rp from both sides, but mg is still better as they do more walk ups and make the stormwind really feel alive imo but ofc, only alliance. wish they just merged us as every other rp server is p much dead. it’s legit mg alliance or some horde wra lol.

While I’m humbled by this suggestion, it’s far beyond us! While a lot of the stuff we are currently doing is goblin focused, anyone is of course welcomed!

Guuah is currently working on organizing a charity RP event (Currently for S.C.R.A.P. and the Undermine orphanage) that’s going to be a fun faire! I’m excited because it’s the first event I tried hosting, and it should be a lot of fun!

If you would like, WrA has a Discord that organizes various RP events. We also host a monthly guild faire where various guilds line up and start recruiting in a big ol’ event! Outside of that there’s always folks around the Valley of Honor, although I’m hoping folks move out a bit more. I know I want more folks down in Undermine!

Feel free to pay a visit, and see if something strikes your fancy!

RP has gone incredibly downhill since 2010, tbh. In terms of how active it is as a whole outside of a few select guilds.

Yes but it’s expensive in bulk… (think like enough tongues for 20 something people in a 2-3 hour event being like 1,000 gold)

I’d put forth ourselves, but I’m still working on Hordeside, looking to setup a bartender alt on both factions for routine interactions.

Oh, since OP is looking for Tauren, I should probably also recommend this Discord (besides the WrA RP Discord ofc):

This is the Lodge: A Tauren RP Discord https://discord.gg/5eGjQ5vqHj

You’ll find lots of good people there.

People use MG’s absolute insane population density as the barometer for popularity, which is dumb. MG is packed to the gills for some reason, like every other RP server went there to go stand around in Stormwind looking at the 12 foot tall dracthyr RPing as their own homebrew dragon race.

Horde WrA is still the way to go.

The Horde RP community lies mostly on WRA. While small compared to the Alliance one on Moon Guard, I’ve seen a bit of an uptick in people in the Valley of Honor, so it might be increasing a bit. But it’s still kinda small and most RP you will find in guilds.

Moon Guard also has a very small Horde RP community, but it’s entirely confined to guilds and will likely be crossfaction to some degree.

Other than that, there’s really no other options.

I utterly despise that this is what RP has boiled down to, we had a fun night last night in SW at the Slaughtered Lamb, but we could absolutely use more people who don’t just AFK in SW or Org and who shrivel up and vanish whenever RP doesn’t just involve standing around doing nothing.

It’s hard to find good RPers and players in general no matter the server now days. Everybody is either guilded or not looking.

Even as a guide in Newcomer chat I see more veteran folks in it than newer ones.
