I tried to spend some time on this druid today. I went to Splintertree in Ashenvale, there were all of 4 quests to do.
I thought Stonetalon seemed like an appropriate zone for a Tauren druid, but when I got to Sun Rock Retreat, and there’s nothing there. I went to Cliffwalker Post. Nope, nothing. Karthem’s Glade, Ghost Walker Post, there are NO quests to do.
I really don’t want to have to level this druid based on cooking and fishing dailies and herbalism nodes. What’s wrong with this game?
Pull the breadcrumb quest from the board in Orgrimmar. For instance, on the Horde side, the Ashenvale chain starts at the very northern part of the barrens and you work your way toward Splintertree and then to other areas of the zone.
Horde starts Stonetalon at the lake in Ashenvale and you ride a transport into the Stonetalon Mountains and continue the chain.

Well that’s doubly disappointing.
First: Orgrimmar messes with my computer something fierce. Every two to three steps, it freezes for 30-40 seconds. It’s taken me 5 minutes to get from the flight point to the portal room before. Why they removed the portals from the other cities to only Orgrimmar is beyond me.
Second: If I’m reading your post correctly, if you don’t like an area, you MUST play it now? You can’t just move to an area you like and start there? You “must” go from A to B to C… ? Whomever decided to backpeddle to that format should be fired, yesterday.
There should be mission boards in Thunderbluff as well. Orgrimmar is just closest to your current location.
The linear questing in most Classic zones was done with the revamp of Cataclysm. Its a fairly old change by now.
The breadcrumb quest is also in your Adventure Journal. No need to visit Orgrimmar at all! That thing really doesn’t get enough credit.

Also at level 29 you should have a number of breadcrumb quests in your adventure journal available so I’m sure you’ll be able to find some stuff.
Also with zones tending to be linear now, you often have to do the initial quest for that zone before you can get more than just a few quests.
I missed a lot during the time I was unsubbed…
Woah! You haven’t played since before Cataclysm? This is incredible! Like the plot of Encino Man!

I was excited for Cataclysm, but the change to the game mechanics turned me off to it. Restriction to one talent tree, my most useful abilities being reduced to proc abilities that “might” make themselves useable in melees, but also might “not”, making gear not just “class specific” but now “spec specific”?
One day, I realized I was logging in only to do the fishing/cooking dailies and logging back out again, so I stopped paying for a game I wasn’t playing.

You should-a kept wandering, traveler. These lands are fallow now, though you should have seen it in its age.
It was wonderful in Vanilla thru Wrath.
I’m hoping this Classic I keep hearing about really is what it says it will be.
Then I hope it’s what you want.
And I hope what you want is really what you want
…i see what you did tharr

The zones follow linear storylines now for the most part. Once you know the system it’s very easy to follow.
I guess I can appreciate the want for the old talent trees, but there’s more choice now than there was before, so I don’t mind how things have progressed.
A lot of quests post Cata can only be done in a specific order. Especially in Kalimdor.
