I’ve been playing through the main storyline as a Holy Priest, and I can’t help but feel sidelined during Anduin’s crisis of faith. Here I am, fully devoted to the Light, yet I’m just standing there thinking, “I wish I could help, but I’m not exactly an expert on the Light or, you know, helping people.”
And then there’s the whole Lamplighter and Beledar weirdness to consider. Where again, we’re completely shut out from any involvement.
What’s particularly strange is that Anduin is also a Priest—shouldn’t he know to reach out to us for support or acknowledge us? Or given his state, be a little scared?
I’ve got a Naaru on my staff and summon one every 15 seconds! My class lore emphasizes communicating with others through the Light, so it feels odd that we don’t even get a throwaway line acknowledging our role.
Imagine if Anduin said something like, “I’m glad you’re here. I’m struggling with the darkness I faced,” or even, “Sorry if I seem distant. The Light runs deep in you, and I’m just not okay right now.” Instead, it feels like I’m just patting him on the back and saying, “Sorrows. Prayers.”
This is the one moment where a Paladin isn’t needed to swing a sword, and it’s a situation right up our alley. I know it’s WARcraft, but some of the best moments in the lore come from emotion. Blizzard can easily write dialogue for Paladins since it’s a problem solved by swinging a sword, but when it comes to Priests, they seem to overlook us—even when the lore practically sets us up for involvement!
Yet, we’re met with silence.
It doesn’t need to be a full quest or side quest—though I’d love that! Just a little acknowledgment would enhance the experience for us as Priests and enrich our class lore and fantasy.
What do you all think?
