Haven’t seen one in m+ or raid or even heroics so far this expansion. I’ve seen a few in Arena. Do trinkets and tier not fix the spec?
Feral has never been a popular spec, even during the tiers when it’s objectively good. I mean it had a near 100% pick rate in MDI during DF S1, and was still a break the meta spec that season.
Throw in the fact that Blizzard significantly changed the pacing of feral druid (which seems to be about a 50/50 split) and “experts” ranking it near the bottom on PVE tier lists, and this is what you see. No FOTM-hopper is going to pick a spec that’s near the bottom of a tier list. And many of the people who played feral in recent expansions don’t like the new pace. Thus you’ll see fewer feral druids in the wild, at least for a bit.
Personally, I’m loving the return to feral’s slower pace in TWW and at least in the groups I’ve been in, performance hasn’t been an issue either. But I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
Right here !
I had always mained balance in Druid but thought Feral seemed really cool. I didn’t put in the fort to learn it though till the end of DF, so even now I’m still grasping it in all content.
I’m loving feral and loving wild stalker though. I don’t just sit it so I’m not a carry in content if I need to furniture understand something. Ive always been a fan of mixing melee with magic and both do that while giving me a plethora of options to off-support. Something else I also love.
I’ve mained Feral since I started the game in late Cata.
I’m currently just running Bear in open-world and delves. The rework for TWW is painful for me, so I threw in the towel.
As Dwelknarr says; In PvE, some seem to love it, and some hate it. In matched PvP most agree it’s in a pretty good spot.
But, yeah;
I’ve looked and payed attention, because it’s something that’s effecting my enjoyment of TWW, and I’m not seeing as many Ferals around.
it sucks its fun in pvp cause i dont like pvp. im just trying to get my 10 blitz wins for purple cat and then not pvp again. im hoping getting 4pc makes it fun in some way cause it just feels weak and awful with 2pc atm
All tier sets for all classes this first season are boring and weak. I think they’re trying to play it safe to make sure there isn’t some insane overlap with one of the hero talents somewhere that break the specs one way or another.
I see quite a few Ferals sitting in groups in M+ waiting to be filled.
I benched my Feral Druid
Objectively, it can put out some very strong numbers in M+.
- I just hate how it feels to actually play now.
- The class/spec trees frustrate me
- I don’t feel like the fantasy of Druid of the Claw was properly realized.
- For me – Waiting on energy doesn’t feel good in 2024 when the rest of the game is GOGOGO.
Thematically… I love druids/shapeshifting classes. I wanted so much to love Feral as I have in the past.
I just don’t. I gave a ton of feedback during the beta. I have submitted hundreds of suggestions in game. Honestly… I’m just tired. I’m done being angry. I give up. The radio silence from devs on future plans… people on the forums/discord gate keeping/mocking/attacking anyone who disagrees with what the devs have done… you all win.
It took years, but I’m done. I’m not mad anymore. Accept what I can’t change. I am just disappointed.
100% this.
(And I’m loving feral.)
I don’t think Delk is talking about tier sets. It’s tier lists. As in; DPS tankings for the current tier.
A few have Feral druid coming in dead last. The more reputable ones have us higher, but most are still placing us in the bottom 3rd or 4th of their lists.
We prowl a lot so you never see us.
But we’re always there. Your odds of being ambushed by a Feral in the wild are low… but never zero.
I was, but the Grizzle’s comment also makes sense in terms of popularity so I didn’t challenge it.
Yeah, I mean performance wise we’re where we seem to sit more often than not. Top 10 in boss damage and middle of the pack overall.
?
I’m seeing us 8th to 10th place on bosses, so that tracks, but everything I’m seeing on overall has us from 20th place out of 28 specs to dead last.
17th on 95th percentile for mythic overall, 8th on boss damage during week 1. So slightly below average overall, and in the top third for boss damage. The rankings don’t really stray away from this if we go down to heroic, either. After week 2 feral has slipped down to 10th on boss damage, so a bit worse but still respectable. Nowhere near last.
Tier lists are pretty worthless when trying to measure DPS specs once we have real data to work with.
For reference hea using the 95th percentile for a base because it shows the actual potential of the specs in the hands of the top 5% of the people playing said spec
The few I’ve seen in M+ absolutely popped off. They made the dungeon look easy.
Its likely they were a bit more skilled than the average player though.
Feral is all over PvP right now. I say buff Boomy’s singletarget and survivability, and nerf its AoE. I genuinely don’t know what should be nerfed about Feral to make it more wholesome for PvE… Maybe something more to AoE and utility?
Honestly Blizzard has tweaked just about everything about feral druid without changing the essence of the spec at this point, and it has made little different in its popularity. Without a complete overhaul of what the spec is, I don’t envision people flocking to it. We might get FOTM rerollers if feral is objectively OP for a couple seasons consecutively; but they’ll jump ship as soon as feral tuning comes back to earth.
More AOE and utility would be nice, and during the times when groups need druid utility that will give a bump to all druid specs, including feral. But even in times when feral was good and moonkin wasn’t, more people liked playing moonkin.
This is all true. The current Boomy mechanic is quite boring though… And I agree, people will flock to whatever the tuning favours, though convenience helps
We were never popular (speaking for PvE only). Been feral since WoTLK and it is always a joy to find another feral player because we are so rare. However, I can say that there is a decline in the amount I’ve seen but I think that is more attributed to more spec options than anything else. Feral is a lot of work for little reward so if you don’t love it, it’s not worth it.
Also, delves have made me stop needing to do mythic + so that can also be a factor as well.
I’ve died to more feral druids than anything else in the world with warmode on.
