Like for real give me some of that DnD style dungeons dive deep into underground ruins of an old powerful… stone giant just revived after thousands of years frozen in time covered in vines, gaurding a magical door to the sleeping but waking dragon lair. Or a simply a Cave to explore with hidden creatures.
we cant have those because the peoples here want the fastest way out of the dungeon. this is why classic is better in terms because stuff like blackrock depths was fun to explore even though it took forever or the sunken temple with the order of the statue things. so now dungeons here are please go as fast as you can so i can leave, not enjoy mechanics but gear and leave. dont know what these dungeons look like anymore.
I like those dungeons. Unless I misunderstood the OP, I don’t think that’s what he is refering to. DND dungeons are more focused on exploration and investigation, being careful to avoid traps, etc. It’s a much different experience.
That only works once, and then everybody would know everything. There really isn’t a way to recreate that experience in an MMO. The mega-dungeons are probably the closest we will ever get.
I partially agree with you but I guess it depends what you do in the dungeon. A creative designer might be able to make a dungeon with the same vibe, but with more replay-ability.
I think the thematic of most dungeons in recent expansions does not feel like dungeon to me.
Ruby life pools - Nokhud offensive - Brackenhide - Algeth’ar.
4 of the new 8 dungeons are just a copy paste of the outworld zone but with an scenario going on.
The same applies for some recent dungeons from previous expansions:
Siege of boralus - The MOTHERLODE - Spires of ascension - Necrotic wake - Tirna Scithe
Dungeons like Halls of infusion - Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr - Neltharus - Azure vault are way more interesting for me because they feel you are actually entering and actually exploring a dungeon not just a different version of a world zone.

Underground city hub with super cool things n daily quests.
But…
To get there, you have to first descend in the the cave and enter a dungeon
(either with a group or solo bc it scales (heh dragons…scale…))
ANYWAY!
It scales to the group or w/e. One entrance portal in near the surface & the dungeon changes to something different if you ascend back through it. You exit into the city underground. It has loot rewards but nothing major so anytime you wana go to the city here you gotta do this dungeon unless you set your hearth here obvi.~
people want to do more than smash their keybinds and run to the next boss with no thought. lol, your extremes are why this games dungeons is a trash heap now, no one asked for 90 mins, but this 10 min rush mode isnt fun either. find a middle mate. i miss the puzzles and deep dives.
