Where are the CST servers?

And if were not getting servers in our own time zone what would be better for us ? I am thinking for those of us in Texas a Pacific server will yield the best ping …

If you are central and go with pacific you will be 2 hours off.
Central should go with eastern for 1 hour off.
Mountain should go with pacific for 1 hour off.

This is just the stress test. There will probably be more once they go live.

See sticky at top…those are the “live” servers.

Oh, I missed that. My eyes usually gloss over the pinned posts.

There hasn’t been Central classed servers since 2014. They are either West, with the data centre in LA, or East, with the data centre in Chicago.

They washed away with the recent flooding from what I heard.

Be nice if we could get a blue post to confirm the data centers that the EST servers are hitting (assuming Chicago?)

I am also in the CST, so I’ll probably pick a EST server. But does it make that much of a difference anyway versus if there was a CST server?

You don’t need a blue post.

There are 2 datacenters…Chicago and LA.

Here…look up your server and see which datacenter it’s hosted on:

Not anymore. With CRZ/sharding timezones became redundant years ago in retail.

But theres none of that here, besides the “layering” at low levels. So, why no CST servers?

Right but the other side of the coin is the local server time. Understood they all hit Chichago is EST and LA if PST but today it’s a mix where a server hitting an LA DC could have CST timezone for local server as default.

You have EST realms hosted from the LA datacenter.
You also have PST realms hosted from Chicago.

I think the issue is there is no middle ground for people in guilds. If you are PST you want a PST server and if you are EST you want a EST server. Right now my guild is trying to figure out which coast to be on and this would have easily been avoided with a CST server

If you have a guild already then it shouldn’t even matter which you choose.

EST/CST are both hosted in Chicago so pick EST server.

There are only 2 datacenters now…Chicago and LA.

huh? lol, do you not believe in latency?

There are only 2 datacenters…check your ping

afaik, we’re not talking data centers. We’re talking that PST folks play PST and their raid/whatever time is the time it says. Likewise for EST players playing on EST. CST folks have to constantly doing math and time conversions to figure out they’re now 2 hours late to raid because they thought it started at 11pm, but that was PST so it actually started at 9pm CST.

Or at least, that’s my gripe about no CST servers.

Edit. my times are wrong, but you see?! I messed up my explanation trying to convert PST/EST to CST and vice versa…
