Where Are the Best Places to Socialize in World of Warcraft?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been having a blast exploring Azeroth, but I feel like I’m missing out on the social aspect of the game. Can anyone recommend the best places to socialize in World of Warcraft? Are there certain cities or locations where people tend to gather? What are the best groups or communities to join for meeting and chatting with other players? Are there specific events or activities that are great for making new friends?

Also, is it just me, or is Trade Chat primarily meant for buying and selling items? Should we be using it for general conversation, or is it better to keep Trade Chat focused on commerce? What are the best channels or methods for socializing if we want to keep Trade Chat clear for its intended purpose? Thanks in advance for your tips and suggestions!

P.S. I prefer to socialize strictly within World of Warcraft and don’t want to use any external programs or apps.

WoW isn’t much of a social game these days.

My suggestion is find a guild that is focused on social interaction.

There are several, so keep looking until you find the right one.

Trade Chat is for buying/selling/looking for something you want need. You may post requests in that chat that you are looking for a social guild.

General is frequently chatting, but many players turn off chat since they are busy doing other things and aren’t interested.

Again, a social guild is really the best way to go for social content in the game. As guilds are cross server now, should be fairly easy to find one.

Good luck!

Well, Dragonblight is quiet. lol

Probably depends a lot on which server you are on or sharded onto…

I rarely see social content in chat. I play several servers too. Dragonblight, Darrowmere, Borean Tundra, Shadowsong, Kalecgos, Echo Isles and Windrunner.

Moonguard is known for um, Role Playing…

I wouldn’t say WoW’s the best for socializing, it CAN be but its more full of try hards and toxic players who wish to be the next Mythic Runner, or something.

Although the more social aspect you are looking for tends to be within the RP realms and even then, that can get…out of control too, for any number of reasons and I’m saying that by experience as a RPer myself. Realistically, anything WoW related socialization is going be outside of the game, like their subreddit or here. That’s the most you’ll find your social people the most besides the RPers. Even if you want to focus strictly in game for that, it isn’t going to be as abundant as you’re going to hope for. Also there are guilds and communities in game you can join, those usually help filter and condense it all. You might end up making more friends than anything.

RP Servers tend to be a bit (not a lot) nicer & social compared to non-RP ones. This is just my experience, though.

This is a great suggestion for either server. Use the Guild Finder tool to help browse what you’re looking for.

Those guilds are only listed once every thirty days. Chances are if a guild is a listed, someone with the power to do so recently did it, at least was active in the last 30 days.

Classic Era should have this feature, too. I mean, it already has the new Guild UI Window to see chat history. It’s just missing this feature. Wish Blizz would give Classic Era the full functioning changes they implement from Retail to Classic Era and not partial/broken ones, but I digress.

Communities are Game Wide dude. Server means nothing

Your best bet is to find an active social guild that plays during a similar time that you do. This will be tricky.

Also you may want to check out some RP servers. Those tend to be more chatty and welcoming.

I would strongly recommend against this. Most guilds, and communities use Discord. They use it for voice-coms and chat. It is the hub for guild activities and socializing. It is also a great want to make friends, and then also play different games with your same guild and community.

By saying you dont want to use external programs or apps, that is like saying you want to travel places, but do not want to use any transportation other than walking. You really restrict yourself for arbitrary reasons and just make things more difficult for yourself.

I dont say this to try to argue. The gaming world has changed drastically. Discord is basically the standard guild hub for most games. It is where most of the social aspects of games take place. And I want to reiterate. Finding a guild with active players that play the same time as you, will end up being a great experience. And through Discord, you will communicate and even play other games with each other. While WoW is the main focus of the guild, being introduced to other games is great. And instead of having a one game community, you just have a social gaming community is a much better quality of life.

Everyone hit the nail on the head here: MG Stormwind is hopping with social RP. But if that’s not your scene, a social guild is always nice. Feel free to look up my guild. We’re always chatty.

People are actually talking / whining in general chat over the pre-expansion.

As for other communication, people stopped talking the moment they were made aware of the ToS / Code of Conduct, it’s like everyone got scared.

Not true.

IK PvP Servers are non-existent, in Retail, but there’s still RP & non-RP servers.

RP Server rules still apply to RP Servers vs non-RP ones. Non-RP names on RP servers are looked at more harshly than if it was on a non-RP server.

Will Blizz abide by those rules? Probably not. But, it’s technically, in the rules.

That being said, I don’t think non-RP server players are willingly to jump in and RP with me, the same way players on an RP server would.

umm what are go going on about? I meant when it comes to communities server doesnt matter. They are game widse. the person I responded to clearly didnt know what one was.

So quick to argue you didnt even understand what you were replying to

Rp realms are usually the highest of socialites

You’re still incorrect.

Like I said here:

That’s an RP community thing, in a guild or not.

Non-RP servers community doesn’t really do that.

You’re projecting.

RP Servers & Non-RP Servers are not the same regardless of which angle you want to argue.

They’re not the same thing and slightly matters which one you want to play on. Not just community wise but for account especially if you name your character something silly.

The tram tunnel between Stormwind and Ironforge…

Alliance Moonguard Trade Chat, come see us!

Those happen in discord, most likely because people feel they can be themselves without the social contract restraint.
