Once again, we find ourselves looking at blizzard overlooking an entire part of the lore. Literally the entire reason Xal’atath was able to pull all the stuff she pulled was because of Iridikron’s dealings with her in getting her the Artifact. And now that Xal’atath has actually come, they aren’t doing jack about it. What is this writing? It seems like they just wanted to shoehorn in a new villain at the end of dragonflight and just completely forgot about the characters they used to do so.
Alexstrasza is enjoying her harem of consorts who are also her descendents.
Ysera’s daughter (whatever her name was) is sleeping.
Kalecgos is drinking soup.
Ebonhorn is sitting on a corner like Baine. It’s a Tauren thing.
Nozdormu is doing something 1209812 years ago.
Vyranoth is looking for more Dragon types to be her underlings.
Dragon Aspects,
“Thanks for getting our glowie eyes back. Peace”. ![]()
The Aspects obviously have their own issues that they are working out. It’s like asking why the Spanish were not involved in World War II. They were picking themselves up from their own revolution.
Now on the other hand, an argument could be made that the Kyrian owe us a favor. We helped them with their problem and they have had a number of years since we left to sort things out.
Seems they could send forces to help out on Azeroth, especially considering that the Azeroth World Soul had a part in the troubles they were having.
Reno is helping us take down the Nerubian threat.
Considering we spent the end of Amirdrassil sitting in a circle and talking about the lore instead of being shown it, I could probably say it’s safe to assume theyre sitting there, talking in a circle about reasons why they’re no longer trying to help.
But even then, they owe the mortal races a huge debt for all of the help that they received, and now that it’s time to come and help out, complete radio silence. As per usual from blizzards writing team, because focusing on a daunting TWO parts of the lore is a very difficult task for them
That was one afternoon off. Their entier society had fallen apart and we helped them pull it all back together. Also there are still Primalists left behind, we didn’t kill all of them. They are in no shape to leave and go solve other people’s problems.
But like I said, the Kyrian are another story. They have had time to sort things out and should be interested in protecting the Azeroth World Soul which factored into their problems. They Kyrian also have a history with the Void which should make them interested in what we are up to.
Still, with primalists left behind, with no real leader or structure because of Vyranoth’s betrayal and Iridikron’s disappearance, dealing with that would be a breeze, no? And seems like a few leaderless proto-drakes would be a far less problem than Iridikron’s dealings finally coming to fruition and everything he planned being set into motion.
It’s just like their writers completely forget about the aspects until halfway into every expansions where they then remember to write them in somehow.
As for the Kyrian, I was hoping to forget about shadowlands lore entirely but their purpose is to help guide souls as they pass into the shadowlands, and they are forever bound to that purpose. Then again, blizzard could easily retcon that (as they do with a lot of stuff) but there’s no real purpose to. As far as I can recall, there is no example of a soul bound to the shadowlands being able to leave the shadowlands, besides Ysera, and someone had to replace her for the time she was gone. How are we going to fix the imbalance from the Kyrian leaving to assist Azeroth?
Baine sitting on a slab in oribos for the entire expansion and then yelling “for the shadowlands!!” one time will never not be funny to me

I agree with this also, seeing as the Kyrian’s main purpose is to guide souls in the bastion, why is there no consequence for them leaving to go assist Azeroth? Sure you can argue they have history with the void, but wouldn’t that cause a variety of imbalances in the shadowlands? Yesera had to make a sacrifice (malfurion) to assist with the emerald dream being threatened, but the Kyrians are free to roam and do whatever they like? Feels like a big retcon unless I’m misunderstanding something. They’re in debt to us for sure and their help would be great and all for fighting Xalatath and the other spider freakazoids, but like Noct said, would that not create a whole load of imbalances?
No. Here again is a short coming of most SciFi / Fantasy in that *** ONE GUY *** or a small group of guys runs an entire organization. For the Primalists to be able to function they would need to have several levels of management and drakes that worked in different areas with different skills.
Take out their leadership and someone else, who is leading one of these groups, would be selected to take over.
Think World War II again. The US didn’t become completely disorganized because FDR died. Next guy in line took over and they hardly missed a beat.
Hasn’t this always been Blizzard’s thing? What happened last expansion stays in last expansion.
Remember when the horde burned down the purple people tree? and the Alliance didn’t immediately call up Velen and have him fire up his magical spaceship and orbital bombard Orgrimmar back into the stone age in retaliation? …Ok Orgrimmar has always kind of been in the stone age, but you get where I am going with this.
Logical solutions that should be available to use are just kind of kicked under the rug so the next excuse plot of the month can move along unabated. You are supposed to be ‘suspending your disbelief’ even though said disbelief is loudly creaking under tectonic tons of pressure.
Not to mention that this is the reason why a lot of threats to Azeroth go into a sort of remission stage. We don’t know how many people are part of the Twilight Hammer and we have no idea however many are left. But there’s always going to be some crazy cult worshipping some ancient deity or being that is willing to use them as pawns for their own grandiose machinations.
Organizations simply don’t ever vanish, ever - this is why recurring threats do be a thing.
That may be a valid enough point IF these threats didn’t exist before the Aspects put the dragon isles to sleep. If these threats and people below the incarnates were enough of a threat to keep the aspects from coming and helping when the void spider freaklings are finally here, ones that are allied with Iridikron, then why were they not back when they left the Isles?
Prior to the Dragon Isles being asleep, the Primates were not a threat. When the dragon Isles woke up, so didn’t they. Now you may disagree and that’s fine.
I have noticed that they don’t use all of their characters in every story. It is probably just as good because they have quite a few and it would be difficult to fit them all in.
I feel a better case could be made for the Kyrian being involved for reasons I stated earlier.
Where’s Wrathion? He would be great hunting Xal’atath. ![]()

They’re at home, washing their tights!
He is trying to drink his soup, but he has to keep stopping to go yell in Orgrimmar and Stormwind everytime someone crafts their legendary firelands stick.
They’re relaxing and doing their jobs. And taking care of their young.
It’d take them a bit to fly over anyway
