Guildies can see Shadowmourne and TFury in their collection windows. I can’t see Glaives. What gives?
They said in patch notes that glaives are the exception to the new mogs. DH only and only after doing the BT achievement.
The value of that unique reward is diminished by my 80+ runs and getting the same glaive multiple times.
Yeah pretty dumb since I already have had them for years on my rogue but still can’t tmog them.
I’m on the fence about the glaives. On the one hand, these demon hunter themed weapons were implemented a decade before demon hunters themselves, and thus for that intervening decade, were usable by a number of other classes (and can still be equipped by those classes for legacy reasons). On the other hand, these are demon hunter weapons, it makes sense for them to be DH-exclusive on the transmog front.
It would also seriously cheapen the DH class image and theme if every warrior, rogue, DK, and monk out there started running around with a pair of them strapped to their backs. Of the other legendaries, only two have themes specifically tied to a single class (Thori’dal and Fangs of the Father), and both of those are isolated to that class in question simply due to weapon selection (only hunters use bows/xbows/guns, and only rogues use daggers).
If demon hunters had been in the game at the time that the Warglaives of Azzinoth were implemented, they’d almost certainly have been classified as warglaives rather than swords, and thus have been inherently DH-exclusive. Them remaining swords for those that did farm them up and want to walk around wearing them in capital cities (or use them in BC timewalking) is fine by me, but it does make sense for them to be DH-exclusive in transmog.
The one gripe I have with this is that they retained the existing requirement of running Black Temple during the once-every-3-months BC timewalking, rather than simply unlocking them for transmog for anyone that has them. I finally farmed up the second one on my rogue a couple weeks ago (got the offhand sometime last year, though I’ve not been farming weekly since then), but I’m still stuck waiting until something like March to be able to run Black Temple and get the actual transmog version.
Not sure why I’m going through all of the effort, though, tbh. I much prefer the flame glaive appearance from the mage tower anyway. I’d have to completely change up my transmog to make the warglaives work, and frankly I rather like my current transmog.
Im just glad I can dual wield thunderfury
I still think the giant ring weps that Maiv Shadowsong wields should be available. I have the Plundered Twinscale Handblades but they are much smaller and no where near as intimidating.
Not to super burst your train of thought here but Warriors and Rogues could (can?) equip Thorridal. I actually got the achievement on my Warrior when he equipped it a few expansions ago so it would fall into the same kinda limbo here.
Sure, they can, but they can’t use those transmogs in combat, since bows are useless to them now (and have been since what, Cata? MoP? Somewhere around there). My point was that the combat visuals of DH would be cheapened by the Warglaives being usable by 2/3rds of the melee classes in the game. Despite Thori’dal being equipable by rogues and warriors, it won’t affect their combat visuals. For them, all it’s good for is standing around in capital cities, which you can do using the original legendary (same applies to the glaives) regardless of transmog options.
So keeping the glaives as a transmog exclusive to DHs makes sense, at least to me, simply for the purposes of not cheapening and diluting the DH combat visual.
