I haven’t seen this directly covered anywhere and part of me hopes that doesn’t mean that we’re just… doing the same activities for keys in 11.1.
Are there new sources, or is it literally still largely the “event for each launch zone?” I’m referring to the lights in hallowfall, the theatre, awakening the machine and the weekly activity bar in Azj Kahet.
I was really kinda hoping for a “delves feeding delves” source that kicks in earlier than directly buying keys later in the seasonal journey, because I have folks who literally just log in for group activities in our own circle of friends and never have keys for the end of the delves we run.
Back on topic though, is it still the 11.0 rotation for key acquisition or are there new key sources?
Is the weekly cap still four though? Because if it’s five… some would argue about the “optionality” of it all. I wouldn’t, but I know that that mindset is out there.
However, I can also get four keys each week on my alts… Pact, Theater Troupe, Hallowfall Lights, Special Assignments, and either world soul or titan fragment quests. Don’t remember if the weekend event quest gives one or not though. Usually have four already within an hour of logging in on Tuesday.
I personally am ok with that, especially if the gear you get on the way is also S2.
I was just hoping for some love for those I know that don’t do weekly world stuff and just want to run delves, and only log on for the running delves part.
Currently you can get 4 keys per week. You have 7 options to get the keys (Awakening the Machine, Spreading Light, Spider Weekly , Theater Troop, Weekly Pinnacle, 2 x Special Assignment). Even if they add an event and up the keys to 5, you can still skip 3.
I wish they’d get rid of echoes if they didn’t. I stopped doing them early in season 1 even before I stopped doing delves because they are absurdly boring nonsensical filler content that should never have been greenlit. I’ll still never do them again so if they still exist I just will have fewer keys.
See this is my first time learning that the weekly pinnacle grants a key because I always had the four zone events done first when I was going hard at it. Good to know.
I didn’t think about any of this but good lord I hope we never have to do S1 world content again. There’s no way I sit in a stupidly long awakening machine on a 639 character and 1 shot a whole wave (which was one shottable at 570 ilvl) for a damn key, this is ridiculous. Same goes for every other activity that gave keys, they’re all outdated there’s no way they make us to that again.
See one of the big reasons I ask is that, yeah, that HAS to be the case because awakening the machine HAS to be approachable for a fresh 80 still. And soloable for every class in that fresh 80 state. So it can’t really amp up with the seasons.
Unfortunately from Blizzard’s perspective delves are designed as end-game content for players who just do world content so they’ll continue to leave them tied to random world content other people don’t want to do, even if they want to do delves early on until they out-gear them.
They could scale the mobs to your armor level… Or scale you down to the mobs like old similar events. Not sure everyone would want this challenge though.
Personally, I’ve always thought these events should have a difficulty slider so people can choose the challenge they want. Similar to tiers in Delves or Torghast.
They will make sure there’s an easy system for getting coffer keys, they want you to do that content. Just not farm it to death the first week.
(The new system just the old S1 system, with maybe a few tweaks.)
As an aside: also feel they are being more raid centric this expac with the rep gains inside the raids? So maybe trying to make raids more relevant for gear and engagement this time around.
Yeah I definitely don’t play awakening the machine for a challenge, that’s “apply time and win” stuff, but I get what you’re saying. Would have to be VERY optional IMO.
The new patch doesn’t come with a story intro that gives a bunch of gear to start the season on a level playing field like most other patches did before? I don’t think they make people crawl their way from fresh 80 at 560 ilvl and gear only with world content and low delves (because delves get scaled up) and no M+ (because those are too hard for 560 ilvl) for weeks and weeks until they catch up. They need to have an actual catch up like they usually do, which is just a bunch of gear in the intro quest of the new goblin place. Should put even a fresh 80 to like 610 or something, which is already way higher than necessary for what awakening machine requires if it’s still on S1 tuning.
