Okay so I understand that Dalaran was destroyed and so was the Voilet hold likely from the explosion that destroyed the city. (It was not swallowed up by the Void wormhole thing you can clearly see that in the cinematic)
My understanding is that this explosion would likely have killed “Most” of the prisoners.
However there wasn’t just “Mortal” prisoners in the Violet Hold.
According to some lore Chromatus was also housed within the Violet Hold and according to his lore he is literally indestructible. As in, all the aspects with their combined might (before they fought Deathwing, so still immortal/titan empowered) were not able to destroy his physical body.
So where is he? Is his body in the rubble on Dorn now?
I imagine before the explosion, the Kirin Tor would have teleported them to a new and secure location, or worked with Chromie to send them back in time to another version of the Violet Hold until a determination of their ultimate imprisonment could be reached.
The Kirin Tor would have needed advanced knowledge that Dalaran was about to be destroyed to be able to make that move in the first place, and if they did know Dalaran was about to go boom, they probably would have found a different way of getting us to Khaz Algar in the first place.
If anything, it sets Chromatus up to be the final raid boss of TWW since we already know it’s not Xal’atath. I know it’s super unlikely, but you never know.
If we had enough time to re-enforce the corners, catch some butterflies, eat some cheese, and build some shelves, 4 of them easily could have magically shrunk the entire hold and teleported it somewhere. As for the final boss being Chromatus… doubtful. There would have been more in the campaign asking about the Violet Hold and forcing us into a 10-20 quest chain to discover its fate.
They could have, sure, but again that implies they had any inkling that something could go wrong from a teleportation spell mages do all the time, albeit on a grander scale. Xal’atath had everyone fooled, and by the time anyone had any indication something was wrong Dalaran was already under attack by the Nerubians. That was after the city had already been teleported, mind you.
Then again, this is Azeroth and timey-wimey stuff happens all the time so there’s no telling what Chromie, Nozdormu, or another bronze could have done to warn the Kirin Tor that probably won’t even be revealed until Midnight/TLT/whenever we do deal with the final fallout of the explosion.
At least some of them are rares at the crash site now. So far; I’ve killed Rotfist and Zovex, and gotten an axe and a mace (the latter designed as a screwdriver) out of it.
Why not just let them be destroyed in the blast. A few stragglers live sure but with how many citizens died it’s likely most of the prisoners did. Also we’ve killed a lot over the course of the game.
